    Canton is a city in and the county seat of Cherokee County, Georgia, United States. The population was 7,709 at the 2000 census. In 2005, Canton was the fastest growing city in Georgia and the 5th fastest growing city (10,000 or more population) in the United States. The city had an estimated population of 21,464 in 2007. It is also known for its vast mixture of "rednecks and "hippies" due to its hunting and arts facilities as well as coffee shops such as Courtyard and Starbucks. Canton is located at 34°13′38″N, 84°29′41″W (34.227307, -84.494727). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.3 square miles (36.9 km²). The city lies just north of Lebanon and south of Ball Ground. As of the 2000 census, there were 7,709 people, 2,702 households, and 1,750 families residing in the city. The population density was 540.5 people per square mile (208.7/km²). There were 2,879 housing units at an average density of 201.8/sq mi (78.0/km²). There were 2,702 households out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.9% were married couples living together, 13.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.2% were

    Well in Ga, and Tennessee people who handle liquor have to have a ABC serving permit. Usually to obtain the permit it is a few hour course, and a test. Contact the test administrator or class instructor and ask if a felony conviction will inhibit you from obtaining the servers permit.     Wow! If Canton Georgia doesn't exist, than my friends are right. I really am going nowhere with my English degree. lol. Ok, but seriously. There is a carpool service that drives from Atlanta to Canton and back. I'll try to get the name of it. But, if you are just diving it is easy enough to get to. Just take I-75 north to I-575. Then exits 14 through 20 are all Canton exits. Historical downtown Canton is exit 19. There you can find city hall, the courthouse, and the best sandwich shop ever R & M Hoagie shop. You totally have to get one. Exit 20 is Rivertone parkway is Exit 20 so you can stop by there and see a movie at the Riverstone 15, maybe do a little shopping, or stop by the new Heritige Park. If you need transportation, there is a free trolley that the city funds that stops by all of the shops and parks.

    There is a movie theatre in Woodstock off exit 8 (TowneLake Pkwy), there isn't much else in Woodstock, I would go south to Kennesaw, (where I live). There is Barret Pkwy, US Play (arcade, bowling, games, etc.). There is also Mountasia on Barret Pkwy, (putt putt gold and arcades). Town Center Mall is right there also. Hope this helps! Also go to California Dreaming for dinner and Iron Horse Steakhouse! Very good restaurants I promise.

    I know it's supposed to be really humid but is it really bad? Should I only pack skirts and tanks? Will be staying from Tues-Sunday this week around the Canton area. Thanks!

    It can go either way. We haven't gotten in to the really humid time of the summer yet, but plan on shorts and t-shirts. Tank tops are suitable as well. You will be in the northern part of the metro area, so not too bad. You can also expect a lot of mosquito's, so come prepared for that. You can survive in jeans, its not that bad yet. But if you will be outside mostly, then be comfortable with what you normally wear for hot weather. IF you are not used to humidity, you will notice your skin is oilier, so pack a oil free moisturizer. Your hair may not hold as well as it would if you come from a less humid climate and if you have asthma, it may bring on some attacks. Overall lately we havent been having the bad sweltering humidity yet. But be prepared to sweat if you are outside, and keep hydrated. Canton is closer to the mountains, so it wont be as bad up there as it is futher south around the city and more southernly. Hope you enjoy your stay here, Georgia is a great place to be. We do get some really good storms during this time of year and tornado's are common up there. So, if you hear a loud air raid sounding siren, take cover.
