City DescriptionBuford is a city in Gwinnett and Hall counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. The population was 10,668 at the 2000 census.
Buford is located at 34°7′1″N, 83°59′55″W (34.117080, -83.998535).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.8 square miles (38.3 km²), of which, 14.7 square miles (38.2 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.34%) is water.
In a bid to host the lunch stop on the new Atlanta and Richmond Air Line Railway, they renamed the town after its president, Algernon S. Buford. They won the lucrative stopping point. Buford has grown rapidly over the last few years, primarily because of the Mall of Georgia, and a strong city school system.
As of the census of 2000, there were 10,668 people, 3,794 households, and 2,579 families residing in the city. The population density was 724.4 people per square mile (279.6/km²). There were 4,044 housing units at an average density of 274.6/sq mi (106.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 76.16% White, 13.33% African American, 0.31% Native American, 0.82% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 7.56% from other races, and 1.78% from two or more races. There are no tours, and you will get arrested if you are caught. It's scary in there, almost broke my foot stepping in a hole running out of there one night. If you can get in there do it, it's quite an experience!! Scary as H***!

Who should I call to fix the leak in my ceiling.?

I have a 5 year old house and soon after the builders warranty expired the ceiling under my baywindow started leaking. That was 4 years ago, I have called about 20 different handymen and roofing/Siding companies, and nobody could find the actual leak, or where it was leaking from. I have used about 4 different handymen/companies and about $800.00 to fix that same leak but no luck. The leak only happens when we have very heavy rain, or high wind with rain. I live in Buford, Georgia area. Can someone help with suggestions.

It would be helpful if you had a pic of the bay window.
Leak investigations can be messy and intrusive. I would bite the bullet and start taking down sheetrock where the water first appears. Then I would follow the water up the wall taking out sheetrock as you go until you have found the leak.
It could be the bay window itself. I could also be a roof leak and the bay window just happens to be in the neighborhood.
Bottom line is that I don't think you are going to find the leak without tearing the house apart in that area.

We're from Northern Virginia and while visiting family there around Perimeter Mall and Dunwoody/Sandy Springs area, we ran into a terrific quality Chinese Restaurant that was packed with local Chinese people standing in line, had the extra large traditonal round tables and the Chinese Food was plentiful and simply delicious!

I want to take some acting classes just to help me be more open and project my voice better. I've looked up schools like The Actors Scene in Buford, GA and Ground Floor Studios in Lawrenceville, and I think there's one at UGA in Athens, which is where I live. Anybody know which one is the best?

Camping by Lake Lanier Georgia recommendation please?

I want to camp near Buford/Suwanee Georgia from April 13th to maybe May 1st. (working in the area)
I would like a nice quit campground with hot showers wifi and electricity. I will be tent camping from my SUV so I will have tons of stuff including a power source if needed.
It looks like Lake Lanier camp sites don't open until the 23 of April so they won't work. Any private sites? Cheap cabins? Maybe an RV park since they would likely have wifi.

I'd like to live in an area where there are other young professionals. I like going out and would like to be around some good restaurants and bars. However, I'm not looking to live in the inner circle of Atlanta. I'd prefer to be somewhere closer to Buford. Please help!

First thing. Buford is North East not North West of Atlanta.
Buford is a pretty small town so expect a small town atmosphere. There is a college (Brenau University ) in Gainesville GA just a few miles north so there might be more activity there for young adults.
You're also not too far from John's Creek and Duluth, both upscale residential areas.

Should I move to Suwanee Georgia?

My husband was offered a great job in Buford Ga. We have two children ages 5 and 7. I am from New England and the schools are great here BUT the cost of living is outrageous. So school is important. Suwanee was voted top place to live. I would really appreciate any insight you can give me. We took one trip already and are planning another one after Christmas.

I've lived in GA my whole life. It's a great place if you go to the right area. You're absolutely right about Suwanee. It's wonderful. My dad lives out there, and it's really nice. You'll love it!!!
P.S. Don't get discouraged about the bad things some people may say. There's always negativity to be found in any situation, if you look hard enough for it. I think you'll actually really enjoy it here!!

Two Cosmetology Schools, which should i choose?

I'm planning to go to cosmetology school in Georgia, i live in Buford Ga. And I can either go to The Georgie Institute of Cosmetolgoy which is 10 minutes outside of my house or go to the Process Institute of Cosmetology which is 25-30 minutes away. Don't go to either of those "for-profit" schools. Go to the local state funded vocational school or community college and you'll pay about 10 times less than those schools. You'll end up defaulting on those student loans in the end anyway... working at pro-cuts, paying them money so you can have a chair there.
Go to college and major in business instead, that way when you graduate you can BUY a beauty salon or start one of your own and be the boss, charge recent beauty school grads to pay you to have a chair in your shop because they have to pay off ten grand worth of student loans for a degree they will never make any money at.
