This can be a good head start for beginners who may otherwise wait until after New Year's to start work on their fitness goals. * Don't stress out if your training schedule is disrupted a bit. The holidays are meant for enjoying family and friends and you can quickly get back on track when the normal routine resumes. * Most importantly, make sure you're outfitted correctly. Put good shoes and fitness apparel on your holiday wish list so that you have the right gear to avoid injury. "It is critical to have the proper products for the most effective and injury-free training and competition," says NeSmith. "Discomfort or an injury caused by ill-fitting shoes, for example, can completely disrupt your goals."
