City Description

Black Diamond is a census-designated place (CDP) in Citrus County, Florida, United States. The population was 694 at the 2000 census. Black Diamond is located at 28°54′40″N, 82°29′33″W (28.911262, -82.492608). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.8 square miles (9.8 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 694 people, 248 households, and 212 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 183.6 people per square mile (70.9/km²). There were 374 housing units at an average density of 98.9/sq mi (38.2/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 94.09% White, 0.72% African American, 4.61% Asian, and 0.58% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.01% of the population. There were 248 households out of which 15.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 84.7% were married couples living together, 0.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.5% were non-families. 11.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.23 and the average family size was 2.39. In the CDP the population
