is a colorado columbine flower vascular or nonvascular?

    Answer:
It is vascular. If you gently break the stem you will see that it contains lots of stringy threads. These are the vessels (From the Latin "vas" - a vessel). Mosses are non vascular; they contain no vessels and largely for this reason they cannot grow tall.

Is it possible to clone Colorado Columbines? I have several plants, but I'm moving...?

    Answer:
It is very hard to clone a plant and you need a special high tech lab. You can dig some of them up though. If you have had the plants for a while then smaller plants should be at the base. Simply dig around them trying to get as many undamaged roots as possible. Then plant them in a pot and make sure to water so the soil does not dry out. They will look wilted and like they're dieing after a day or two. This is normal, the plants are just in shock from being removed from their home and losing part of their root structure. If all goes right they will snap out of it and grow new roots to replace the ones lost.

Principal Shot at Wis. High School Dies; Colorado Hostage; Columbine?
    Question:
What has this world come to? Something so hellish that even the youth are dying or killing? The school shooting plot on myspace? I have to say, it makes you think... But can you believe that people will actually do that? There are seriously some crazy people in the world... I still am shocked to find that kids would do that to classmates... M MEM~ And bullying had to be brought to killing? They were crazy.

    Answer:
Not to belittle the subject... the phrase "Monkey see, Monkey do" comes to mind. Every time a tragedy like these killings in schools occur & the media draws attention to them, more copycat events happen. I actually feel the media has a roll to play in informing the public regarding this type of news. HOWEVER... the media of today compared to the media of yesterday is about hype hype & ratings. Instead of just stating the facts & reporting for the sake of knowledge, they spend a whole day or more on moment to moment action with pundits talking inbetween discribing the action as if we are watching a monster truck rally or an Olympic race! So those people who are emotionally unstable due to their childhood upbringing (bulling, abuse, etc.) or more serious psychological illnesses immerse themselves in the tv hype & see a connection to their experience & lives, which in turn gives them a motive to copycat & commit an act of violence. They see a drama unfold like any tv series, they see themselves in this drama & worst of all they see the recognition anyone gets from such a public display of behavior (eg. urban terrorizm). Every time an event such as these occur the media reminds you about the Columbine tragedy... hense, the notoriety for years to come. Our culture glorifies criminals into infamous icons which we tend to create a cult-like essence about these disturbed people. EG; Bonnie & Clide, Billy the Kid, Any moffia figure you can come up with, Boston Strangler, Jack the ripper & todays group of characters... We allow this culture of ours to dictated the behaviors such individuals will take to avenge their anger & low self esteem. Perhaps we need to take back our culture & provide better social skills for everyone as if we lived in a very large village & we're all responsible for each other? No matter what we do, we better do it soon, because there will be more school tragedies to come if we don't.

Do you have a bad impression of Colorado?
    Question:
With all of the scandalous and terrible events we have been through recently (Jon Benet, Columbine, CU scandals, latest school shooting), do you have a distorted image of Colorado? Would you ever move here?

    Answer:
the only thing i don't like about colorado is downtown denver during rush hour or trying to drive up to craig in a snowstorm. otherwise colorado is ok. bad stuff happens everywhere, not just there.

Why did the Littleton, Colorado police WAIT OUTSIDE during the Columbine massacre?
    Question:
I was reading through some of the after-action reports of that incident, and the INACTION and incompetence of the Littleton police department is just staggering. Everyone knows that if you have a report of shooting, you send in officers to go engage the shooter, to put an end to the rampage as quickly as possible. The Littleton cops did not do this, at all. They basically waited outside while kids were bleeding to death or were otherwise in great pain inside the building. And then they harassed the kids who exited the building, since their failure to enter the structure meant they didn't know that both shooters were already dead. Why were the Littleton cops so incompetent in this case? I'd sure hate to rely on THOSE guys in an emergency...

    Answer:
There was no active shooter training before the Columbine incident. It was not a matter of incompetence, it was an issue with training. The officers in Littleton, and everywhere else, were taught to secure the perimeter and send in the SWAT team. Departments nationwide have since changed tactics, but at that time, they responded the same way any other department would have.

    Answer:
Dont pick on those kids. Be nice to them so they will spare you. Thats what happens when you pick on someone daily.

What do you think of Darrell Scotts speach to House Judiciary Committee's ? daughter was a Columbine victim.
    Question:
Guess our national leaders didn't expect this, hmm? On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton , Colorado , was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful. They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a portion of the transcript: "Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers. "The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart. "In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent. I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best. This was written way before I knew I would be speaking here today: Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air. You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer. Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die. You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question "Why?" You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed. And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need! "Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not h ave been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts. "As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High S chool prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA -- I give to you a sincere challenge. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!" Do what the media did not - - let the nation hear this man's speech.. Please send this out to everyone you can. God Bless!

How many people died in columbine?
    Question:
    Virginia tech vs Colorado?

    Answer:
The Columbine High School massacre occurred on Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School in an unincorporated section of Littleton, Colorado located in Jefferson County, near Denver. Two teenage students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, carried out a shooting rampage, killing 12 students and a teacher, as well as wounding 24 others.

DumbDumb and Fall Fertilizering: Socratic Methodology of obtaining the Truth (jk, and Who is Socrates Anyway?)
    Question:
Hi everyone. This is a quick follow up on placing fertilizer down in the Autumn months. I was glad to see everyone in agreement on this issue, and I believe your experinece trumps my lack of knowledge. However, with your kind patience, may I pose my question like this: Two equal Columbines ('Colorado Gold', as I recall, and I can't wait to see this one in bloosom) are planted in the ground. The soils differ in this manner only: One ground was given nutrients via fertilizer. The other soil contained all the nutrients the fertilizer would give, but it was naturally pre-existing. Wouldn't both Columbines, having the same nutirents, equally chance to form Autumnal leaves (or even buds) which would die off in the first freeze? Wouldn't both Columbine roots, having the same nutirents, both suffer the same opportunity for better root formation? When I follow this logic (my own), am I still a dumbdumb?

    Answer:
    Nobody.

Do you think the media is responsible for school violence?
    Question:
After school shootings, such as the Columbine shooting in Littleton, Colorado, people mostly seem to blame the media. The columbine shooters listened to Marilyn Manson and many people blamed the artist. I think the media has very little responsibility and that people blame artists like manson because he is easier to blame. Do you think that it is the media, and if not, what other factors do you think lead to violence among teens?

    Answer:
There are many factors that lead to teen violence. The media is partly responsible because when somebody sees something cool on t.v. they will try to imitate it. Friends can play a role. Many people have been corrupted by his/her friends. Parents play the biggest role. parents decide what media they will let their kids be exposed to. A good parent will be able to know if their child is mature enough to handle the media. I have not imitated too many things on t.v. therefore my parents gave me a lot of freedom with the media. If a child watched somebody beat up another person on t.v. and then they did it too,the parents should step in and control what their kids should and should not watch. Sometimes a child's friends can influence someone. Peer pressure seems like a weak concept, but it is very powerful. I have had friends who are good kids who got in trouble for shoplifting because his bad friend convinced him to do it. I do not blame the media for Columbine. Those student were being harassed by the other students. I do not condone what they did, but if you push someone too far, they will eventually snap and it can get very ugly. In Columbine many people got caught up in that they were a little cracked being Trench Coat Mafia and killing innocent people, but maybe if they were not being harassed nobody would have been killed. Columbine could be blamed on the parents too. One time someone put me on a myspace so i went over to his house. His mom said that he cannot control what his kid does 100% of the time. That is a cop out. It may be true, but you do not use this as an excuse. You try the best you can and that anwser does not sound like she tried to raise him. When I did something wrong my parents never told anybody that they cannot control me 100% of the time. They said they will take care of it and did. My point is that all the blame should not be shifted to the media. Since the beginning of time there have been crime. Crime is older than the media. I am not saying that parents are 100% responsible since i have known people from good families who turned into screwups, but they play the biggest role in teen violence

Do you think Columbine is a pretty flower ?
    Question:
Should we change the state flower of Colorado

Columbine is pretty.. yes. If it's your state flower, keep it- if only for the memory of the people who lost their lives at the high school there.

Is this a good introduction for my topic on school violence?
    Question:
School violence in America has increased over the past few years. A majority of recent school shootings may be caused by some of our nation’s children because they lack a fundamental understanding of how to solve personal problems in public settings. Instead of talking to someone about what is bothering them, several kids tend to lash out and get revenge by taking a gun to school. Over the past two years, nine different schools have become scenes of murders. Over twenty have been killed, and the killings occurred in high, middle, or elementary schools. Even though there are several concerns about school violence, there has been little information on the causes for it, and little done to prevent it. Violence in schools has become one of America’s worries since 1996. February 2, 1996, marked the first school shooting, and since then, seventeen shootings have occurred. Among them, the shooting that occurred at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, was the deadliest. Everyone in today’s society is trying to figure out why kids are killing each other. Even though people feel that schools are becoming dangerous, they think we should put school violence into a realistic perspective.

    Answer:
pretty good, although an introduction has to set the pace for the paper and in a way present questions without posing a question (confusing i know.) it has to be strong and to the point. may i suggest this: (basically ur words but condensed, to the point) February 2, 1996, marked the first school shooting in America. Since then, seventeen shootings have occured and violence has risen from... ( what is this ratio? 30%-70%, give a fact). Now you can introduce factors that are aiding in the risen youth violence. Government involvement: the government has basically stripped parents/guardians of their authority in their homes. this causes confusion in any child of any age. Teachers/Facility: what are their underlying interests? Are they really for their students, or is a just a job? Are teachers really doing their part to ensure education, and safety in their classroom and the school in itself. What are the vibes students get from the school facility? I also think schools should have classes, for all students, in learning and developing anger management. Positive re- enforcements etc. Parents: Are they providing a loving, peaceful and open house for their children? Is there open communication? is there communication with the school to see how their child is doing? Media: WOW! this is a big factor. media has been left to be the parent... not good! Violence is all around, t.v., games, internet, music. the media needs to take responsibility for what they are feeding to children of all ages. Past Hurts: abuse of any kind. tramatic childhood memory etc. these are just a few factors you can choose to use or not. have fun researching them and remember to use FACTS! all the best.

Can someone give me help on what my thesis should be for my introduction?

    Answer:
Is school really safe for our children?and do our children feel safe in school? also do the community care and do the schools care about our children?

How can we prevent from school shootings?
    Question:
I just saw the news saying 22 people are dead in Virginia Tech today. About 7 years ago, 12 students and a teacher got killed by two students at Columbine High School, which is located at Littleton, Colorado. How can we stop this killings at public, especially at schools?

    Answer:
the columbine shooting was because of they way the two boys were treated by the other students. they decided to get revenge by shooting fellow students and take their own lives. schools need to become more strict on their policies, and not allow such abuse to happen between students. some will grow up without letting the abuse really get to them and others will go psycho and kill everybody. i dont understand how anyone can push someone so far that they resort to murder.

    colorado safety?
    Question:
Do you feel safe in Colorado? Considering the recent shootings? Considering the death of JonBenet Ramsey? Considering the 1999 shootings at Columbine? My family and I were going to go to Colorado in the Spring, but now we are not so sure.

    Answer:
The tragic happenings in Colorado, have made some people wary of going there, however. If you will recall, the Shootings at the university in Virginia earlier this year, the Shootings in Texas many years ago from the clock tower, and many more things that have happened that are similar. You take a chance going anywhere these days, however the likelihood of this happening to you is very small. Do not let this dissuade your family from their trip, and enjoy it.

Colorado Calls - Do You Like?
    Question:
Listen to the lark bunting's trill Colorado calls in the Springtime Follow the hairstreak butterfly hop the lavender columbine Rocky Mountains, ancient canyons decorate and adorn the land Pigmented by nature's artists silhouetted as the sun's hand Wander the pony express trail pass blue spruce and the grama grass Colorado sings in the Springtime The lyrics, you are home at last.

    Answer:
I won't reiterate what as been said above, they're right, the compliment I will pile upon the heap is this: rhymes and almost rhymes, I quite enjoyed them, it's good to not be afraid to stretch the rhyme to the point of breaking, and it works very well here. Springtime/columbine; grass/last. I liked that quite a bit.
