Why wasn't Colorado Springs, Colorado voted the most friendly city in the United States?

I am visiting Colorado Springs this week. I have visited many states and many cities in this great country, but I have never in my life been in such a friendly city. I can't even begin to tell you how nice and friendly it is here. People are happy all the time. Service is restaurants is outstanding. Everyone just needs to visit this city and see for yourself. Everyone needs to take a lesson from the residents of Colorado Springs.
Answer:
It was named last year by Money Magazine as the best big city in the U.S. to live. It is probably not the nicest because of the unfriendliness towards the gay community becaue of the high presence of the HUGE New Life Church and Focus on the Family groups there. Also, its a more expensive place to live to there are more richer people so they can be more snobby.
Denver however is very welcoming towards our gay community. We are #3 behind NYC and San Francisco.

I may be moving to Colorado Springs in the next month or so (for a job assignment). Right now I am living in the DC metro area and love the networking opportunities for young black professionals. The possibilities are endless. I am interested in connecting with young black professionals in COS but am having some trouble finding organizations or groups on the web reaching out to young blacks in COS. Is anyone familiar with the area and can offer suggestions? Are there popular hangouts or neighborhoods? I have nothing against other races, in fact I like having friends of different backgrounds and cultures, but after being the token black person at my job all day, that's not a trend I want to continue in my personal life.

if i am lucky and find a scholarship i will start school october 23rd but... i dont know what? where? how? anything about scholarships.

make an appointment with your school advisor or counselor at the college you would like to attend they can steer you in the right direction for grants (dont have to be paid back). If the school that you are attending accept fin aid you can also qualify for a Pell grant which is dependant of your income. Your potential college financial aid office shoudl be able to guide you through this and with a child that makes you independent to qualify for Pell Grants which can be a tremendous help along with Financial Aid which is a loan and has to be paid back. Colorado has a state Income Tax as well as state and local sales taxes.
However, the property taxes are probably lower than they are Texas.

Where is better to vacation with a toddler Colorado Springs or Denver?

I plan on taking my two year old on vacation to Colorado this September. I don't know which has more to offer for children, Denver or Colorado Springs. I am assuming Denver since it is larger, but Colorado Springs is closer to us (less gas!). If anyone has taken their young children to either, your opinion will be valued heavily. Thank you!

Well, I live here and I would say it's better to take him/her to Denver. There is a lot more to do and the hot springs are in Glenwood, not Colorado Springs. Denver just has more going on and there is more to see and more attractions. Colorado Springs is boring in my opinion and the people aren't as nice as in Denver. Well, I think you will have fun where ever you decide on going, but Denver would be my choice. Good luck and have fun! :)
