BRECKENRIDGE, Colorado??? Question: Is there anything good to do here on vacation? It would be a family of 4. It's with a timeshare so we know where we are staying. Is there good stuff to do/see here for a week? Any links or advice (if you have been there too) would be great. Thanks!
We are going in the summer...
Answer:
I have been there twice (2000 and March 2006). I will assume you are going during the ski season. Skiing at Breckenridge is good. Peak 9 is probably the best area for beginners. Peak 7 has the easiest intermediate slopes on the mountain. Peak 8 gets too crowded. Peak 10 has good advanced terrain. Experts should head to the Imperial Express (top of Peak 8) or do laps on the T-Bar (upper Peak 8). Lift tickets are high during the ski season, so be sure to ski the whole day to make it worth the money. As for eating out, the best place in town is the Mi Casa Mexican restaurant near the Village at Breckenridge which is very close to the base of Peak 9. Mi Casa is definitely the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to, and one of the best restaurants I have been to period. I can't remember the names of many other restaurants there, but I also can't remember eating at a place that I didn't like. If you are there during the ski season, be sure to go out early or expect to wait a very long time to eat. Snowmobiling on Freemont Pass is definitely an awesome experience, topping out at 12,500 feet. Nearby Copper Mountain (west on I-70 a couple miles) has horse-drawn sleigh rides at night ending with an excellent meal. The bottom line with Breckenridge: the slopes can get crowded, but it is probably has the best beginner slopes around). Advanced skiers should stay high on the mountain or try Vail (west on I-70). The websites below will have some more good info.

Where to stay and what to do in BreckenRidge Colorado? Question: Any suggestions for places to stay and things to do in BreckenRidge? Any information will be greatly appreciated! Thx
Answer:
It really depends on what you like to do and when your going.
Summer:
I personally would fly-fish the Blue River, hike some 14'rs (14,000 ft mtns, Quandary, Democrat, Lincoln, Cameron, Bross are very close), and do a little mtn. biking. You can also find some places that offer horseback riding, hot air balloon rides, there's a nice outlet mall in Silverthorn, Sail boats on Lake Dillon, there are also several historical mines, mining activities in the area as well.
Winter: Obviously, skiing and snowboarding. But you can also take snowmobile tours, snowshoe, cross-country ski, and if your looking for something romantic there are evening sleigh rides in woods.
You find any kind of place you want in and around Breckenridge. If you're staying in the summer and have a car, I would recommend finding somewhere just outside town like Dillon or Frisco they can be much more affordable.

Where is a good place to stay for snow skiing in Breckenridge, Colorado? Question: My wife and I are going for our 1 year anniversary, and have never been skiing before. I would like to stay at a nice place. Any help would be appreciated.
Answer:
Everyone is correct in saying Frisco is cheaper and it is fairly convenient with the free Summit shuttle. The most popular place to stay seems to be Beaver Run Resort, right at the base of Peak 9 in Breck. It's huge and you can ski-out. What I would recommend though is calling Breckenridge reservations at 800-842-8062 and they can tell you about the different deals and packages at different places. It is often cheaper for lift tickets if you book them with your lodging. You can also visit http://www.snow.com

Do you like Breckenridge Colorado or Park City Utah better? Question: I am thinking of moving to one of these places for winter because I like snow.
Answer:
Park City is wonderful all year round.
In January, you can attend the Sundance Film Festival or Slamdance Film Festival.
Maybe you'll meet Robert Redford.
You can cross country ski at White Pine Touring.
Or downhill at Deer Valley or Park City Resort.
In 2002, we had the Winter Olympics here.
Why not come and take a bobsled ride.
During the Summer months, Park City is wonderful for mountain biking.

What's the story on Breckenridge, Colorado? Not part of the U.S. 3 days each year? Question: OK, a friend told me that in Colorado, a town called Breckenridge, near Denver, is NOT a part of Colorado, or the United States. Is this true? Whats the story on this, and if true, what happened?
Answer:
There is a 1,500 square mile section of northern Colorado, west of Denve, not owned by the United States 3 days out of every year. According to records of the general Land Office, this territory "was aquired neither through the Louisiana Purchase of 1803, the Texas annexation of 1845, nor by treaties with the Utes who apparently never claimed it. This Un-American region - its residents possible not U.S. Citizens - include the town of Breckinridge. To check this further, you may contact the Colorado Bureau of Land Management

What month is it really snowy in BreckenRidge, Colorado? Question: I'm trying to look for the best month to go skiing and see lots of snow ....any help will be appreciated! Thx
Answer:
Breckenridge has remarkably even snowfall from November to April:
http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/cgi-bin/cliMAIN.pl?cobrec
Of course you want to wait until the snow has built up a bit. And Christmas/New Years is very expensive. Anytime after New Years through March should be fine in most years.
But weather can always do strange things.

Places, things and eats in Breckenridge, Colorado.? Question: My best-friend (guy) and I (girl) are driving to Breckenridge, Colorado to celebrate my 21st Birthday (his idea) I love winter and snow and cold weather so I guess that's why. We're leaving Friday Nov. 6th in the morning and heading back sunday. Will it be snowing? We're coming from Dallas, TX. My questions are these.. What can we do? We love adventure and excitement.. skiing? snowboarding? snowmobiling? Any ideas of where? We also want to hit a few bars to celebrate the obvious as well... which bars are good? And where should we stay? I hear stories for each resort/hotel/condo and they vary so much I can't choose! Money isn't a issue but we still like to save were we can. Oh and FOOD... any good restaurants you may recommend? Thanks for looking and for any helpful info you can give to helping my 21st birthday the best!... Oh LAST QUESTION (promise) do they sell Corona beer in Colorado? ;)
Answer:
Yeah, they sell Coronas, here. Don't listen to them! I live in a neighborhood that is half Mexican, and there are always Corona bottles lying in some of the yards...Corona, Dos X, Tecate. You can get Mexican beers here.
Mexican food, too, but I'm not sure which restaurants to go to in Breck. Fraid I like the kind that's sort of American Mexican...all kinds of cheese on everything and all. Authentic Mexican doesn't have that. Go to Haciend Real for a really good meal. It's in Frisco near the Safeway.
Nope. Ski areas won't open until the 15th. But if you really want to, and don't care about your skis, you might be able to hike up the mountain and ski down...Lot of work for one run! (I did it when I first moved here - I was younger then) And, as for will it be snowing? who knows? Last year, it didn't begin until Thanksgiving, and then didn't quit until mid February. And then started up again the next day. (it was a loooooooooooong winter!)
Bars: Ullrs, and Erics. There's a martini place, and something in La Cima that has bands come in every weekend...but I can't remember the name of it...I no longer live on that side of the county.
Resorts are, by and large, good and accomodating...won't matter a whole lot which one you choose. If you really want to splurge, Beaver Run and the Village are two of the best resorts, but there are so many choices, you need to figure out for yourself what fits your needs and budget.
Happy Birthday!
