City Description

Glen Avon is a census-designated place (CDP) in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 14,853 at the 2000 census. Glen Avon is located at 34°1′2″N 117°29′31″W / 34.01722, -117.49194 (34.017313, -117.491855). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.4 square miles (19.2 km²), of which, 7.4 square miles (19.1 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.40%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 14,853 people, 4,740 households, and 3,242 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,012.0 people per square mile (777.1/km²). There were 4,936 housing units at an average density of 668.6/sq mi (258.2/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 60.79% White, 3.81% Black or African American, 1.54% Native American, 2.24% Asian, 0.20% Pacific Islander, 27.10% from other races, and 4.34% from two or more races. 47.17% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 4,740 households out of which 36.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.6% were non-families.
