Do I go look for employment if I plan to leave California, and go back to New Mexico in 2 months? Question: I am here visiting my sister on vacation from New Mexico, and I am thinking about going back to my home in New Mexico because, it seems like I can not find a job, no matter how much I tried!
I am homesick, and I miss my family there very much! It is very difficult looking for work when, I lack the "Work Experience." I want to work but, employers want someone who has at least 2 years expe

I used to live in Bell Gardens, California all my life but, everything and everything has changed.
Sometimes, I feel so alone in this world without my father to guide me. My father died in October 1993, and I miss him very much!
He was the only person that I went to when, I needed some advice on everything. I did not realize how much he took upon his shoulders (family, personal problems, finances, etc.)
What would you do in my situation?
Answer:
Everyone goes through this situation at first. Most of us are either underqualified or overqualified no matter what.
The thing that impresses employers at interviews is the impression of being a positive, sharp, quick study type person that can learn the ropes really fast. It is really a perceptual thing.
You are going to have to take whatever job come along first, and do your level best for at least 2 years before moving on to other opportunities.
I would suggest going to a community college and getting into a work-study program to build a resume with some experience.

Is my life in Danger??? Question: i mostly drink, Vodka, Patron, Henessy, Crown Royal, Bacardi
and im only 15 (turning 16 in 2 weeks)
so i wanted to know if drinking is bad for my health
to help you on answering ima tell you a story
on new years me and my friends went to Bell Gardens, California to my dad's beach house.. we invited some girls we met at the airport and we got drunk as hell. next thing you know we did illegal stuff and we were running from the cops.
ok now i think thats enough info... answer plz
Answer:
I think drinking in moderation is not going to create much in the way of health problems. I live in Germany and teenagers here can drink legally at 16. I think that in the US there is a certain Puritanism that pervades many of our laws.
That being said, binge drinking can cause health problems both short and long term. People can die from alcohol poisoning and also put themselves in physical danger due to alcohol impairment. There are also legal consequences both to drinking underage and, from what you said, doing illegal things while intoxicated.
Finally, some people, especially those with a family history of alcoholism are prone to become dependent on alcohol which can lead to a lifetime of problems.
My advice would be not to drink, but if you do, don't drink so much as to get out of totally out of control and get yourself in a bad situation.

Hi, I am in California, and I am looking for a check cashing place or bank that has teleservice.? Question: The reason why I am looking for another place is because Nix Check Cashing is charging way too much now to cash my checks. So I am looking for a new place to conduct my business, but also they have to provide Teleservice, I dont need an ATM service. I tried google it takes too long, I am looking for something close by, maybe in Long Beach,Carson,Hawthorne,Compton, Lynwood, Bell, or Bell Gardens. I think Teleservice is the right term, because its for a relative of mine who is handicapped and they're unable to get out of the car, Nix has been good, but they're prices are getting too high, and thats not good at all. Thanks.
Also if its in the city of Compton, thats fine with me as well. I just need something close by to me.
Answer:
Try Bank of America. They are pretty good at what they do.

A Long Beach County in California? Question: The population of Los Angeles County is almost 10 million. There is enough land and people to create more counties. Some years ago, I heard Long Beach wanted their own county.
It would have consisted of Long Beach, Bellflower, Lakewood, Downey, Norwalk, Paramount, Carson, Compton, San Pedro and the South Bay (Torrance, Gardena, Lomita, Hawthorne, Mnhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach).
Maybe: Bell, Bell Gardens, South Gate, Huntington Park, Cudahy and Maywood .
Did the proposal get shot down?
What became of it and why?
Should Long Beach be added as another county to Califormia?
What about the San Gabriel Valley, Pomona Valley, or San Fernando Valley?
Answer:
I grew up in Gardena, and have lived in Lynwood and Torrance. So. Bay.
My experience was that any city incorporated into Los Angeles county was doomed to deterioration.
The school system being the first to be effected.
Best examples are Hunnington Park, South Gate and Lynwood.
The process began in the early 50's.

Do you know how the Government spends your money on illegal immigrants? Question: Here Is a sample!!
From a school teacher - - -
"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal
immigration there are some things that you should be aware of:
I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a
large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1
school, meaning that its students average lower socio-economic and income levels.
Most of the schools you are hearing about - South Gate High, Bell
Gardens, Huntington Park, etc.-where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.
One hundred percent of the students in this school and other Title
1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I
say free breakfast,
I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal
bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The
waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at
least moderately overweight.
About 75% or more DO have cell phones.
The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage
pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the
inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family
watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing
funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center; half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute
teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female
teachers, calling them "Putas" (whores) and throwing things that the teachers were in tears.
Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc.,
etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to
demand rights, privileges and entitlements?
To my bleeding-heart friends who want to point out how much these
illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their
gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.
Higher insurance, Medical facilities closing, higher medical
costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc., etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.
We need to wake up. The Guest worker program will be a disaster
because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?
There are many hardworking Hispanic/American citizens that
contribute to our country and many that I consider my true friends. We should encourage and accept those Hispanics who have done it the right and legal way.
It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world
culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting
pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about "politically correct" that we don't have the will to do anything about it.
Answer:
Thank you. I was wondering why my children's school has free lunch and breakfast without applying any more. Of course it is over 80% hispanic, legals, illegals, and the many anchor babies. Many of them have the nicest things money can buy. Of course they had to discontinue teaching the other kids spanish because the funds were cut off after 3-4 months. So we feed kids who aren't going hungry, and we don't educate our own citizens to be competitive with this new priveleged group. And people think I'm racist for complaining!!!

I started a garden this summer now it is dying out. What can I plant this time of year and winter? Question: I started a garden with my son and grew tomatoes, green beans, yellow squash, bell peppers, radishes, and basil. Now that the season is over my garden is dying out and I'm sad. What can I plant that will grow during the fall and the winter. We are in Northern California where it does get pretty cold but no snow. Any ideas would be great.
Answer:
Even if it does not snow, you probably will experience a frost which can kill the plants that are forced to remain outside. If you choose to plant anything now and want it to survive the winter, don't plant it in the ground and then transplant it in the Spring once the danger of frost has passed. When the weather is cold, a lot of plants go dormant so I don't have any suggestions on what you could plant now unless you want some annuals and perrenials.
Good luck!

CHEAP LABOR?
Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?
Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage.
Consumers don't want expensive produce.
Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs.
But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie. there is no such thing as "cheap labor."
Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.
He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.
He qualifies for food stamps.
He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.
His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.
He requires bilingual teachers and books.
He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.
If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense.
He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.
Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.
He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.
Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his.
The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.
Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people. THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY. 'AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!'
THIS HAS GOT TO BE PASSED ALONG TO AS MANY AS POSSIBLE OR WE WILL ALL GO DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE A FEW DON'T CARE.

What tree should I plant in my front yard? Question: I'd like it to be unique and beautiful, graceful, maybe a bit delicate but not a weeping willow. Something with a branching shape, not too vertical. I'd like it to let dappled light through, and be no more than 25 feet when mature. It can be deciduous. I live in Southern California in an old 1920's mediteranean but not spanish-style house. The garden faces south/east with not much shade. It is ecletic, with white wisteria behind a black magic colocasia, some david austin 'heritage' roses, white heliotrope, pink jasmine, purplish red abutilon, canterbury bells, oreganum 'kent beauty', coreopsis 'limerock passion'. Things like that. I love japanese maples and I plan to use them soon, but this tree needs to be more of a focal point, close to the entryway, and it will be there to greet whoever comes to the door. Is there a maple tree that will be right? Or something entirely different? I just planted a halesia snowdrop tree farther down the garden.
Answer:
Plant a Mimosa Tree,it has fern like leaves that close up tight at night and it has soft fuzzie hot pink flowers when it blooms.
I live in New England and the tree is rather tropical so it does not bloom for me until August. I don't know how much earlier it will bloom for you in California, But boy it is worth every step I take to baby it through the winter!!!
Albizia Julibrissin "rosea" I guarantee love at first sight!

This is a ridiculous response stating that this teacher's salary is too much. RIDICULOUS!! If it weren't for the illegals being here stealing money from our tax system, we could pay our teachers decent salaries. Man, you are PITIFUL!
Median annual earnings of kindergarten, elementary, middle, and secondary school teachers ranged from $39,810 to $44,340 in 2002; the lowest 10 percent earned $24,960 to $29,850; the top 10 percent earned $62,890 to $68,530. Median earnings for preschool teachers were $19,270.
According to the American Federation of Teachers, beginning teachers with a bachelor's degree earned an average of $30,719 in the 2001-02 school year. The estimated average salary of all public elementary and secondary school teachers in the 200102 school year was $44,367. Private school teachers generally earn less than public school teachers.

Illegals are using your identity to get better jobs and then falsifying tax documents to take advantage of earned income credit. They are better at cheating every level of government than american born citizens who are inclined to do so. I think they must have plenty of help.
I am past the point of saying remove politicians who lie to us to get elected and then promote their own agendas once elected rather than doing the will of the people. I am in favor of the death penalty for any and all politicians who betray the public trust in this way.
Impeach Bush, Cheney, Reid, and Pelosi!!!!!!

Cheap tomatoes anyone, and this? Or more expensive tomatoes, and not this, America? Question: CHEAP TOMATOES
This English teacher has phrased it the best I've seen yet
CHEAP TOMATOES? This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent
From a California school teacher - - -
"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal
Immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:
I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a Large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 School, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and Income levels. Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools. Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll. But a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family
Watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; My budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute Teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them "PutBlankas" whoblankres and throwing things that the teachers were in tears.
Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements? To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and Housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.
Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes!!!
We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return? There are many hardworking Hispanic/American citizens that contribute to our country and many that I consider my true friends. We should Encourage and accept those Hispanics who have done it the right and legal way.
It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third- world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about "politically correctness" that we don't have the will to do anything about it. If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know.
CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about? Business doesn't want to pay a decent wages.Consumers don't want expensive produce.Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs. But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as "cheap labor."
Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.He qualifies for food stamps.
YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people.THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE RESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY. 'AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!'
THIS HAS GOT TO BE PASSED ALONG TO AS MANY AS POSSIBLE OR WE WILL ALL
GO DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE A FEW DON'T CARE.
WE CANNOT AFFORD TO BE THE WELFARE STATE FOR THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry it's so long, but she tells it all.
dianner, you will have to copy and paste this message to share it. Or fwd, the question. Good Luck. I can't email you, so I can send it to you.
Answer:
i agree with you. We are now seen to be and some feel it is our duty to be the welfare state of the world. I agree we should help out where needed, but we need to take care of our people first. We need to take care of the usa citizens who pay taxes, work hard, and follow the laws of this country. We shouldn't have to take care of all of the other worlds problems. I swear you hear about how people can't afford anything today, and its mainly due to taxes.. which are high due to the usa wanting to take care of the rest of the world and let illegals be here without paying anything or earning the benefits which they are rewarded. This is a huge problem for this country. The last vote says that people see this and they will not put up with it. Now we just have to enforce the laws we have and get back to this being the usa.. not the usmexico, usworld, or usanyother country..
