Has anyone ever been in the cave in Cool Cave Valley, near Auburn in California?

There is a cave about four miles outside of Auburn in Cool Cave Valley. It's near the limestone quarry. You have to crawl down a little hole to get it but once you get in its a really big cavern inside. It's an old limestone mine. There is a steep exit that you can climb out on a rope. There is a lot of water in the cave and an underground lake you have to cross over to get to the exit. The last time I was there was last summer. I recently went up there this year and they had dug out the entrace and put a huge metal gate across it. They also gated off the exit and all other possible entrances to the caves. The name on the gate was "Hawer Cave" and the gate said it had been put up in 2006. I've tried looking this cave up and have found no info on it. Does anyone know what's going on? Why they closed it and if they plan on opening it back up but making people pay or something?

I had a friend who had told me about that place, but I'm not sure as to what has happened since then (3 years ago). I do know with all the seismic activity, it is possible that they are making it more tourist-safe. That maybe why it's shut down, and I'm sure it'll reopen one way or another. Also, limestone quarries can deteriorate with climate changes. Perhaps the structure was deemed unsafe. At any rate, I've heard nice things about it. Hopefully they'll fix whatever's wrong so others can experience it.

What is the normal price of receiving a scuba license and doing the class and stuff?

I'm doing it for my senior project and i want to see how much money i need to raise before January. Anything will help!! Also, if anyone lives in the Auburn/Grass Valley California area and knows of a great place to learn how to scuba, that would be great help also.

The class usually costs ~$100. You also pay for the boat trips which are about $50. You'll want to buy your own mask, snorkel, and fins which'll be about $75. Then there's equipment rental which is about $30 each time. All told, to get certified, you're looking at around $400+. What you is lookup some local dive shops and call around. Oftentimes they'll have package deals which may save you a bit.
Also, be sure to ask what certification you'll be getting. I'd recommend YMCA or NAUI certification over PADI because you will learn more which equates to becoming a safer diver.

Missouri S&T (formerly UM-Rolla) is a great education for engineers. It's tuiton is low and an excellent education for the money. The school is solely dedicated to science studies (no english majors) so couses are specialized and taught by work professionals in the field of study. I have know many people that attended UM-Rolla and all of them have been extremely happy with it.
Also Missouri=MO, no MI... that is Michigan.

Do I have to pay a pre-payment penalty on my mortgage while I am in foreclosure, in the state of California?

I was charged $13K by New Century Mortgage for a pre-payment penalty when I sold my home just before (30 days or so before the actual trustee's sale date) it was going to sell at a foreclosure sale. My note did not specifically state something like: "the pre-payment penalty shall apply in a acceleration after default". I argued that fact with New Century Mortgage and they basically told me "too bad", the pre-payment penalty applies whether or not the note you signed with us states that it does or not. I did locate the Ca. Civil Code, section 2954.10 which states pretty directly what the law reads etc., etc. Any help on what to do? Where to go? A good lawyer referral near Auburn, CA? Thank You!!
