    City Description

    Arcadia is a U.S. city in Los Angeles County, California that is located about 13 miles (21 km) northeast of downtown Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley, at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. It is the site of the Santa Anita Park racetrack and home to the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 53,054. The estimate for 2005 is a population of 56,565. Arcadia is located at 34°7′58″N 118°2′11″W / 34.13278, -118.03639 (34.132688, -118.036491). Arcadia is located 13 miles (21 km) northeast of downtown Los Angeles. The city is bordered by five communities: Pasadena, Sierra Madre, San Marino, Monrovia, and Temple City. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 28.8 km² (11.1 mi²). 28.4 km² (11.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (1.08%) is water. Arcadia has experienced a tremendous demographic shift in recent years. A city that was almost uniformly Caucasian 30 years ago is now 45% Asian American.     Goegraphy Lesson: Los Angeles is a DESERT. The reason we have all that sunshine is because it rains very little. So, as a result, you just don't have lakes, rivers, or other sources of water that occur naturally. The Los Angeles River, if you can call it that, is just a concrete channel with an inch or so of water in the bottom. (See the movie Grease, or Terminator 2) If you want that, go to Minnesota. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. As for Puddingstone, you can swim there, but there is no tent camping. Besides, I'm not sure I would go swimming there. They have a lot of Jetskis there, that deposit oil into the water. It's a closed reservoir, so you get the oily residue. Best Lake I can recommend is Big Bear Lake, about 100 miles away. As for camping, there is no camping anywhere in the area. The closest camping is at Chilao, about 40 miles up Angeles Crest Highway. No lakes, however. And there is no camping in any city parks. Good luck!

    I tried to get help for one of my tenants in this situation. I do not want to evict her, but I will not support her either. I was literally told the address of the shelter I, or the sherriff, could take her to after I evicted her. Her family refuses to help her with anything. So, I am always stuck with late rent and having to do things I should not have to do, her own children should be doing them. But your question, "can they really evict her" is an absolute yes. Being disabled does not have you a ward of your landlord. You can contact social services, but she is not likely to get much help on short notice.

    I've been to them all! Tons of time for each. Arcadia - They used to be better in customer service ~ nowdays, customer service has gone down the drain for the Arcadia location. My friends and I used to go every friday after work to end the stressful work week. We've had a host ("door person") who was flat out rude. The bar table-booths at the bottom of the bar has horrible servers. They never acknowledges customer. Don't get me wrong, they are a few great employees there; however, the disrespectful ones out number the good ones. When we do get a great server, we would let mgmt know. The games at one point were ALL down - light bulbs fallen out onto the game, coins machines were down, tickets weren't coming out; some of the games are even RIGGED to their advantage that you can't win. Irvine - It's okay, too small of a location. A lot of ppl in a small location with games, bar and resturant at the same time on friday and saturday nights. Haven't been to this one for about 4 years. I've had decent experience at this one. The hosts("door person") are exceptional - very polite. Ontario - It's also pretty small. It seems that this one has a lack in air circulation - very stuffy. Customer service is good. The host ("door person") is nice. Good place to get a drink and something to eat from all the shopping at Ontario Mall. Orange - The best one in LA/Orange County. I live only 15 mins away from the Arcadia location, but the Orange location is my preference. My friends and I have had good experience majority of the time at this location. Great customer service. Has a lot of ppl like the other locations, but has a good handle on the situation. San Diego - It's hard to find at first. It's hidden under a dark fwy overpass. It's a nice location. Customer service is nice. The dining area is very pleasant. The employees their are well trained in customer service. Even the officers at the door at midnight are pleasant.
