Questions Possibly Related to Alameda, CaliforniaProvided By Y! Answers
Is Alameda California a safe place to live, if I'm working class? Question: I'm moving to california from texas. Is Alameda a good place to raise a family. Crime? Economy? Etc
Answer:
Yes. Alameda is predominately.. i would say 70% middle/high class caucasions and 30% asians. The crime rate is really really low...rare I should say. Its a small city about 8 miles wide and is pretty much protected. however, just outside of Alameda is a city called Oakland...well known across the United States as one of the most dangerous cities in the US. But..dont let me give you the shivers though. Oakland is a reallyyyy big city and only certain parts of the city is has its rough side. There is only 3 way out of Alameda. One is through Oakland's Chinatown (SAFE AREA). The Other is through this stretch alongside the beach (overlooking the San Francisco Bay area), and the other is over this green bridge which takes you into East Oakland (semi ghetto- not too bad area of Oakland).
But anyways, Alameda itself has quite some good schools and neighbors. One good thing about the city is that there are plenty of cops and speed limit is strictly enforced (the only city where the speed limit all around town is 25 mph). So dont come speeding here! Also, hardly any robberies or crimes are committted here because 1) the city is soo small. 2) any speeding car would look suspcious 3) there is not alot of way out of the city to run away from the cops. Shopping centers are all within reach, shopping malls are only a few miles away out of Alameda. As for the economy...California itself isnt doing so good rite now..but there are plentyyyy of jobs available. A popular website to look for jobs in this area is www.craigslist.com. Alameda is like at the center of all the big cities. Many jobs are located out of Alameda though because its mostly a residential area..some businesses..but not too many. Many jobs are located in areas such as Berkeley (15 minute drive away) San Francisco (30 minute drive away) San Leandro, union city, Fremont (all about 25 minutes away). The cost of living in California is pretty high too..but of course, minimum wage is higher here. If youre expecting to rent a home in alameda..average for 3 bedroom house is about $1400 +. If youre expectig to buy a house in ALameda..average i would say is at least $450 K. But recently, due to the bad economy, theres been a drop in housing prices.
Overall, i would say that youve chosen a good place to move to. I believe there are better opportunities out here.

Alameda county, California, speeding ticket, driving school, how long is given for completion? Question: I paid a speeding ticket about 2 months ago I believe, but I haven't done my driving school, and if I don't my insurance will become unaffordable, so my question is... how much time are you given to complete driving school and turn in your certificate in Alameda county, California, and if it's too late, is there anything I can do for my insurance?
Answer:

I am inclined to agree with Angel up above. But my personal experience has always been as much reasonable time necessary to complete it. Generally I am offered a month for completion and I will reply to that with something like, this $200 fine has put a damper on my finances and will take some time to put the funds together for traffic school. The Traffic Commissioner will ask me if two months will be enough time. To which I answer, certainly, your Honor. Then she says something along the lines of, you're ordered to complete traffic school on X date of two months from now.
But since you reasonably should have been able to remember having a conversation such as that, my guess would be that you simply mailed this in to the clerk of the court, who then mailed you these directions. If you already thrown this, then my best suggestion is to go back to your other question where Angel tells you to call the court clerk.
*/End of Line.

Can anyone give me information on applying for a CCW in alameda county, California? Question: I'm trying to find out any info I can on getting a permit to carry. Any information on the application process as well as anything that might help in getting granted for a permit, would be greatly appreciated.
I've tried contacting the sherrif's department and am waiting for call back. I have done some research on it, and am mostly interested in anyone who has had any experience, and could tell me how the process works and what is the best way to get approved for one.

What is the penalty for speeding over 100mph in Alameda county california? Question: They said I have to appear in court, but did not state I should pay a fine or anything. I was reportedly driving at 101mph when I was stopped. The ticket does not say its a misdemenour, but they insist I appear in court. I hope I am not going to be arrested,or something like that.
Answer:
California Vehicle Code 22348 (b):
A person who drives a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than 100 miles per hour is guilty of an infraction punishable, as follows:
(1) Upon a first conviction of a violation of this subdivision, by a fine of not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500). The court mayalso suspend the privilege of the person to operate a motor vehicle for a period not to exceed 30 days.
That's if it is your first time.

Why does "comingling" not matter in Alameda County, California's Family Court? Question: Before divorce, my wife used out community money to pay for taxes and insurance on her inherited house. My attorney says I can't claim "comingling" because family court won't go that way. Best answer would be for Alameda County, but any other California or US family court info is also welcome.
Answer:
The law is going to be the same anywhere in California. Alameda County does not have its own independent law.
California law does recognize commingling as sometimes transforming separate property into community property. However, what you are describing is not commingling. The separate nature of the property is clear and can be traced.
The house she obtained by inheritance was her separate property at the time of acquisition. The use of community funds to pay for anything which does not increase the equity in the house thereafter does not change its character as 100% separate property. This includes interest on debt, taxes, insurance, etc. If it was inherited without any debt, then nothing done by the community short of improvements could increase equity. Even if the community increased the equity by debt payments or improvements paid for with community funds, that still would not change the separate character of the inherited property, but the community might be entitled to claim its portion of the increase in value (although it could also be considered a gift by the community).

Anyone know roughly the cost of renovating a 30 room, 10 bath, three story Victorian in Alameda, California? Question: It is a wood frame house, that was renovated in the late 40s into 10 small apartments. It needs interior, exterior paint, modernized baths and kithens...

$20,000 for each bathroom, another $25,000 for each kitchen, plus another $5,000 for each of the other rooms. That's my guess. Let us know how it goes.

What is Alameda, California like? Question: Is it a nice place to live? What are the people like? Is it a good place for kids? How are the schools?
Answer:
Alameda, somehow, has kept it city relatively safe and clean. Being adjacent to problematic cities like Hayward, Oakland, and Berkeley - it is a small city that is surrounded by water (it is actually an island!) and has very good access to freeways and is very very close to San Francisco!
The city itself has pretty good schools and has a very diverse population (which is representative of Bay Area living). Its a good choice, not too expensive, safe, and has a good number of hangouts and restaurants.
Hope this helps.

Alameda, California...what do you know? Question: Has anyone ever heard of this place? It's a small island city between SF and Oakland?? What's to do there? Food? Drinks? Entertainment?
Answer:
Yeah, it's an island in the San Francisco bay just west of Oakland. It's a quiet place but there are good restaurants and even a decent winery.
