Widener is located at 35°1′25″N 90°41′2″W / 35.02361, -90.68389 (35.023559, -90.683886).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 335 people, 111 households, and 81 families residing in the town. The population density was 258.7/km² (663.9/mi²). There were 129 housing units at an average density of 99.6/km² (255.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 31.94% White, 67.16% Black or African American, 0.30% Asian, 0.60% from other races. 2.39% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 111 households out of which 39.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.3% were married couples living together, 22.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.0% were non-families. 20.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.02 and the average family size was 3.65.
