City DescriptionTontitown is a city in Washington County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 942 at the 2000 census. Tontitown is part of the Fayetteville–Springdale–Rogers, AR-MO Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Tontitown was settled in the late 1800s mostly by Italian immigrants. Since 1898, Tontitown has held an annual grape festival in mid-August, which celebrates the harvest and the town's Italian American heritage. The festival features a carnival, a craft fair and a homemade spaghetti dinner served to thousands.
Tontitown is home to Jim Bob Duggar, a real estate agent and former state legislator, as well as his wife and 18 children. Together they represent about 2% of the population of Tontitown.
Tontitown is located at 36°10′45″N 94°14′48″W / 36.17917, -94.24667 (36.179043, -94.246572).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.0 square miles (18.2 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 942 people, 351 households, and 273 families residing in the city. The population density was 134.2 people per square mile (51.8/km²).
