Taylor is located at 33°6′7″N 93°27′39″W / 33.10194, -93.46083 (33.101965, -93.460852).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 566 people, 220 households, and 166 families residing in the city. The population density was 566.2 people per square mile (218.5/km²). There were 251 housing units at an average density of 251.1/sq mi (96.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 94.70% White, 3.71% Black or African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.18% Pacific Islander, and 0.88% from two or more races. 0.53% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 220 households out of which 30.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.0% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.1% were non-families. 22.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
