City DescriptionStrong is a city in Union County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 651 at the 2000 census.
Strong is located in the southern most part of Arkansas. 33°6′35″N 92°21′30″W / 33.10972, -92.35833 (33.109856, -92.358353).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.9 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 651 people, 256 households, and 171 families residing in the city. The population density was 581.3 people per square mile (224.4/km²). There were 285 housing units at an average density of 254.5/sq mi (98.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 42.24% White, 53.61% Black or African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 3.07% from other races, and 0.77% from two or more races. 5.68% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 256 households out of which 29.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.5% were married couples living together, 23.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 30.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
