City Description

McCrory is a city in Woodruff County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,850 at the 2000 census. McCrory is located at 35°15′28″N 91°11′48″W / 35.25778, -91.19667 (35.257914, -91.196738). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.4 square miles (6.2 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,850 people, 752 households, and 482 families residing in the city. The population density was 777.7 people per square mile (300.1/km²). There were 855 housing units at an average density of 359.4/sq mi (138.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 79.46% White, 18.92% Black or African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.43% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 0.86% from two or more races. 0.92% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 752 households out of which 31.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.8% were married couples living together, 16.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.9% were non-families. 32.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
