- Luxora: Former teacher dies
Sunday, December 28, 2008 Reverand Jimmy Lee Stevens, former preacher at the Luxora Baptist Church as well as the Luxora High School English teacher, died Saturday afternoon after a long illness. The funeral will be Tuesday in Clifton, Texas. Please pray for his wife Donna, and their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and for all of those wholoved him.

City DescriptionLuxora is a town in Mississippi County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,317 at the 2000 census.
Luxora is located at 35°45′25″N 89°55′47″W / 35.75694, -89.92972 (35.756954, -89.929616).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²), all land.
At the 2000 census, there were 1,317 people, 477 households and 352 families residing in the town. The population density was 584.5/km² (1,514.5/mi²). There were 537 housing units at an average density of 238.3/km² (617.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 40.93% White, 56.04% Black or African American, 0.08% Native American, 1.97% from other races, and 0.99% from two or more races. 2.73% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 477 households of which 38.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.0% were married couples living together, 26.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% were non-families. 23.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.76 and the average family size was 3.29.
