City Description

Leslie is a city in Searcy County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 482 at the 2000 census. Leslie is located at 35°49′47″N 92°33′28″W / 35.82972, -92.55778 (35.829662, -92.557788). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.8 square miles (1.9 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 482 people, 224 households, and 127 families residing in the city. The population density was 645.6 people per square mile (248.1/km²). There were 278 housing units at an average density of 372.3/sq mi (143.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.38% White, 0.21% Native American, and 0.41% from two or more races. 1.24% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 224 households out of which 29.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.2% were married couples living together, 13.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 42.9% were non-families. 40.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 22.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
