City DescriptionJunction City is a city in Union County, Arkansas, United States, and is the twin city of neighboring Junction City, Louisiana. The population was 721 at the 2000 census.
Junction City is located at 33°1′9″N 92°43′22″W / 33.01917, -92.72278 (33.019174, -92.722915).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.1 square miles (3.0 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 721 people, 251 households, and 186 families residing in the city. The population density was 635.0 people per square mile (244.2/km²). There were 288 housing units at an average density of 253.7/sq mi (97.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 55.20% White, 43.00% Black or African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.14% Asian, and 1.11% from two or more races. 0.69% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 251 households out of which 34.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% were married couples living together, 15.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.5% were non-families. 23.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
