City Description

Grubbs is a town in Jackson County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 438 at the 2000 census. Grubbs is located at 35°39′3″N 91°4′27″W / 35.65083, -91.07417 (35.650792, -91.074145). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.4 km² (0.6 mi²), all land. As of the census of 2000, there were 438 people, 186 households, and 135 families residing in the town. The population density was 307.5/km² (798.0/mi²). There were 213 housing units at an average density of 149.5/km² (388.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 94.52% White, and 5.48% from two or more races. 0.68% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 186 households out of which 24.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.9% were married couples living together, 7.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.4% were non-families. 25.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 2.80. In the town the population was spread out with 18.3% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 26.0% from 25
