City Description

Fountain Lake is a town in Garland County, Arkansas, United States. It is part of the 'Hot Springs Metropolitan Statistical Area'. The population was 409 at the 2000 census. Fountain Lake is located at 34°37′3″N 92°55′8″W / 34.6175, -92.91889 (34.617439, -92.918914). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 9.2 km² (3.5 mi²), all land. As of the census of 2000, there were 409 people, 161 households, and 126 families residing in the town. The population density was 44.6/km² (115.4/mi²). There were 174 housing units at an average density of 19.0/km² (49.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.56% White, 0.24% Black or African American, 0.98% Native American, 0.73% from other races, and 0.49% from two or more races. 0.73% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 161 households out of which 32.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.0% were married couples living together, 13.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.7% were non-families. 16.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
