City Description

Fargo is a town in Monroe County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 118 at the 2000 census. Fargo is located at 34°57′19″N 91°10′38″W / 34.95528, -91.17722 (34.955140, -91.177179). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.7 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (2.99%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 118 people, 41 households, and 31 families residing in the town. The population density was 70.1/km² (180.5/mi²). There were 50 housing units at an average density of 29.7/km² (76.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 53.39% White, 45.76% Black or African American, 0.85% from other races. There were 41 households out of which 46.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.7% were married couples living together, 19.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.0% were non-families. 17.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
