City Description

Elm Springs is a city in Benton and Washington counties in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The population was 1,044 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Fayetteville–Springdale–Rogers, AR-MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Elm Springs is located at 36°12′27″N 94°13′17″W / 36.2075, -94.22139 (36.207590, -94.221515). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.8 square miles (9.8 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,044 people, 385 households, and 296 families residing in the city. The population density was 276.9 people per square mile (106.9/km²). There were 410 housing units at an average density of 108.7/sq mi (42.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.58% White, 0.38% Black or African American, 0.96% Native American, 1.53% Asian, 2.49% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. 4.31% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 385 households out of which 29.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.1% were married couples living together, 4.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.1% were non-families. 17.4% of all households were made up of individuals
