I just finished eating at Lackeys, and I really enjoyed it. It's a small place,and it's an old place. First let me say that I don't often frequent the big chain resturants, or the expensive gourmet places, I usually eat out two or three times a day and I like a variety, and I like a well prepared meal for a reasonable price, and service is very important also. Lackeys has all of those things. I had a combo meal that had Red Beans And Rice, Jambalaya, Texas Toast, and two Tamales, and it was only $5.99, that was the best meal that I have ever eaten for that price. It was very flavorful, and it filled me up.

"BARKER'S" There will never be another place in town better than "BARKER'S" !!!!!!! Mrs. Barker was the best cook in town. I was really sad to see them go, but they left memories in the harts of their customers, when they sold their restaurant. "It will never be the same!!!!!

Great place to eat family owned. Food is always fresh. The selection is not as big as some but everything is good. Alot of the food is spicy so if you don't like hot food then look at the labels.

This place is really quite good and the service is very fast. Authentic not Tex Mex. We eat there alot. In fact our whole town eats there alot. Not too expensive so everyone takes the kids. A family of four can eat well for $30.00 or even less.

Once you live in newport for an extended period of time, you come to the conclusion that newport doesn't have much in the way of fine dining or an extensive collection of dine in restaurants. So if you are ever stuck in newport and need that mexican food fix... I suggest El Puente over the other two .
