Is October an ok time for a fishing trip in Arkansas?
    Question:
I am planning a trip for my husbands birthday on Beaver Lake, but am running into scheduling issues. I am looking at the second weekend in October?????

    Answer:
October should be a good time to go. A lot will depend on how warm the water has got, and how many cool nights or sudden cool fronts that come threw. These will determine how fast the water temp drops. Living in S. Central Ky. we have active fishing clear up till Nov. some years, before having to switch to winter patterns. Again a lot will depend on what the weather does, which no one can predict. Here is a link for Beaver Lake, Arkansas http://www.arkansas.com/lakes-rivers/lake.asp?id=1 That would be a great time to fish for Small Mouth Bass...they love it when the water starts to cool down. Also here is the Corps of Engineers web page for Beaver lake, which with some digging you should be able to find all kinds of information such as water levels, water temps., etc. http://corpslakes.usace.army.mil/visitors/projects.cfm?Id =M401230 Have a great and fun filled vacation.

Would you recommend that I leave my dog home when I go to NW Arkansas to camp?
    Question:
groundhogs, beavers, LOTS OF RACOONS, vultures, ducks, deer, armadillos, and foxes are there..any other possibly dangerous animals pose a threat? its a lab blue heeler..but shes not the most courageous dog..mainly at night she gets a skitzy because she cant see perfectly since its dark..should she just stay home for this trip? what i meant was if something is coming behind and its dark she gets skitsy

    Answer:
Leave her with someone who can be responsible for her -- if you live with your parents, maybe them or a boarding kennel or something like that (prescreened)... Dogs don't have problems with seeing in the dark so using that as an excuse for her getting 'skitzy' is ludicrous. They see fine in the dark... But I wouldn't take her out to a camping in the woods as you will likely either loose her or she will become injured or get diseases by ticks and you likely wouldn't be able to keep her under control on a leash and it is your camping trip -- leave her home with good supervision and care.
