Where should I move? Louisville, Memphis, Birmingham, Austin, San Antone, Nashville, Salt Lake, or NW Arkansas Question: Which of these cities, if any, should I move to, and why? Consider quality of life, cost of living, quality of the people, cleanliness of cities, and job market.
Answer:
Heres the deal: I've lived in Nashville, and visited Louisville. I'm currently living in SW Missouri (right near NW Arkansas!!
--Nashville and about a one hour radius is VERY expensive to live!! Lots of fun cool stuff to do, and plenty of jobs, but can you afford to live?? Only if you find a really well-paying job.
--Louisville has a lot of fun things to do, and a nice tourism business, less of a "Southern" atmosphere, but that's all I can say, because I've never lived there, or tried to find work there.
--NW Arkansas: NOT MUCH TO DO!! VERY AFFORDABLE HOUSING!! You have to weigh out the options!! I just moved here. (SW missouri) and the landscape is ugly, and you have to go to Springfield MO or Branson MO, or Eureka Springs AR (VERY cool town) in order to find some fun stuff to do, but IF you are OK with that, there are jobs to be had, and VERY cheap cost of living. The PEOPLE here are also VERY NICE!! I just got a 2100 sq. Ft. Hous with 4 br and 3 bath, for UNDER 80k!!! So you gotta look at the pros and cons. Also, in this area, there's not too much diversity, we NEED some Black people to move in!! I miss my peeps.....

Austin, TX Questions? Question: first of all I am thinking of moving from Arkansas to Austin, had a few questions, no keep in mind the population of my hometown is 85,000.
1.What is traffic like, is it hard to drive around or is it easy?
2.If i try and support my Arkansas Razorbacks will i be smited, as well as the SF 49ers, and the Phoenix Suns?
3.Are there good paying jobs, and is the rent expensive?I pay 525 for a 900 sf two bd/bth apartment in Fort Smith, AR. and i work for lowes making about 23,000 a year.
4.Are people rude, mean, or generally nice?
5.if i have anymore questions may please email you, if i can please email me and let me know thank you?
6. Is it safe, i have never lived in a big city, i have been to orlando, memphis, chicago, OKC, and tulsa what is crime like compared to these places?
7.Can you please explain how the taxes work in texas, i have been told they are different than Arkansas, for we are one of the most taxed stated in the US?
Thank you in advance
the area i am looking at is Round Rock, my wife plans to go to Le Cordon Bleu, and i would like to work for the Round Rock Lowes, so how is the Round Rock area?
Answer:
1. Traffic - Traffic in Austin is no different than any other big city. Sure, it is not as bad as Houston or Dallas, but morning and afternoon rush hours will be frustrating on the main highways, I-35 and Mopac. Specifically, the morning rush is heaviest from 6:30 - 9:00am, and the afternoon rush is heaviest from 3:00 - 6:30pm. By the way, traffic heading in and out of Round Rock is always problematic, so I would recommend checking out South Austin.
2. Sports - You can support whoever you want without worry and trust me, there are plenty of razorback fans in Texas. Austin is very diverse, so there are fans who support teams from all over.
3. Employment/Rent - The cost of living in Austin is one of the highest in Texas, so you will not be able to find a two bedroom apartment for $525. A two bedroom will cost you aywhere from $1000 - $1300/month. You can get a nice house for that, so I would recommend that you look to buy instead of rent. The good news is that since the cost of living is higher, salaries and wages here are higher as well.
4. People - Overall, people are very nice and pretty open minded. However, just like any place, there are some young, trendy snobs who feel obligated to share their opinions whether you ask for it or not. The funny thing is that most of those jerks aren't even from here.
5. Safety - Yes, Austin is very safe. While there may be some areas you want to steer clear of late at night, you can safely live in or visit just about any part of Austin without worry.
6. Taxes - I am not a CPA, but I don't think our taxes are that much different than any other place. I have never had any problems or concerns.
Good luck on your potential move!

If you lived under a dictator, and had to chose from one of these places to live, which would you choose? Question: Arkansas, Austin, Maine, Utah, Virginia, Minnesota, Bellingham (WA)
Answer:
I speak from experience so, I would probably say Bellingham because, it's beautiful there and it's clean and well I was there before and I got a sense of freedom. However, all of the places you mentioned are better to live in than under a dictator so, to me any of these places would be ok.

Seeking real information on Austin TX and surrounding areas.? Question: I'm considering moving from L.A. and am trying to determine where I might like to live. I miss seasons and the cost of living here is insane now. I'm considering Austin, maybe Nashville, or elsewhere.
Regarding Austin, I'd like to know more about the following:
Temperatures / seasons. Do you HAVE seasons (i.e. an AUTUMN???) and how humid does it get? Comparable to Arkansas?
Where are the best areas in Austin to live. Is it all flat, or is it diverse with hilly areas, too?
I know it's a big high-tech growth area, but what about other types of job -- say entertainment industry? Live music capitol, I know, but jobs?
Property taxes high/low/average.
Things to do. Musically -- all genres (including REAL rock?) or leaning toward country/western/other?
Diversity -- more "melting pot" or traditional middle America?
I want a place where there are things to do I enjoy, but that isn't such a rat race. All information, advice and suggestions welcomed.
Thank you.
EEK! VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION I forgot. MAJOR CONCERT TOURS! Do they come through Austin regularly, or do you have to go to Houston, Dallas or San Antonio to get them.
AND Tornado activity. If I'm moving back toward tornadoes -- how bad does it get?
Answer:
I have lived in Austin my whole life (23 years) so hopefully I can provide you with your needed info.
Temperature/Seasons: It is HOT most of the time reaching around 110 degrees in August. We have one season...summer. Ok actually, we have spring and summer but NO autumn (all leaves here stay green year around and we never really get much of a winter). The humidity isn't too bad, not as humid as Houston but I don't know in comparison to Arkansas because I've never been to Arkansas.
The best area to live is Central Austin which is really nice but sort of pricey (however, you live in L.A. so I know you know about expensive housing). Average rent in downtown is from $1500-2,500 depending on how nice the house is. In regards to the terrain...austin is in the "hill country" so its surrounded by lots of beautiful hills and it isn't flat really at all. Dallas is very flat.
If you want a job in the entertainment industry I don't think Austin is the place to do it. Unless you have a band but there isn't great theatre here or anything to that respect.
Property tax depends on the area but there is no state income tax which is really nice.
Considering that this is the live music capitol of the world there is MUCH more than country. Actually Austin really isn't into country/western music much. More indie bands and blues. I don't know what you might consider "real rock" but it really isn't that country here. That is more in Nashville.
Diversity here is great. There are primarily hispanics/caucasians here but since University of Texas at Austin is a huge school here there are people from all over the world that live here.
Other Austin info: The average age is around 27, there are more restaurants per capita than anywhere else in the US, it is one of the top fittest cities. Overall, good place to live. Plenty to do, nice people, great Mexican food (go to Chuy's if you move here..its tasty). Negatives: no seasons, always hot, bad traffic (well I don't know how bad compared to L.A. traffic, small airport.
In regards to Nashville, my best friend lives there and I know that it has all 4 seasons including autumn and snow in the winter with a nice mild summer. The music is primarily country/western being that it has most country stars living there. However, I hear there are awesome bars and really nice people so you might want to check it out.
Hope this helps! If you have any info on Chicago (I'm moving there in a couple months) please send it my way. Thanks!

What are out-of-state fees and how do they work? Question: Say I live in Arkansas and want to study Aerospace Engineering at the University of Austin, what would that situation be?
Answer:
Out of state fees are assessed to students who enroll in a school that is not in their home state. Public universities get money from their state's budget which comes, in part, from state taxes paid by residents. Since you did not pay taxes in that state, you pay a premium tuition rate to compensate. If you attended school in Arkansas, you would be assessed in-state, resident rates because you (or your parents, depending on how old you are) paid into Arkansas's state budget when you paid taxes.
Check to see if there is any tuition reciprocity between Arkansas and Texas. Some states have agreements that students coming from neighboring states or certain counties within a state get charged in-state, resident rates. Look on their website or ask admissions about reciprocal tuition agreements.
Good luck to you. Sounds like you've chosen an interesting career!

Funny outrageouse people suing companies for a dumb reason? Question: The “Stella Awards” are named after the 81-year-old woman, Stella Liebeck, who spilled hot coffee on herself and success-fully sued McDonald’s in New Mexico for 2.9 million dollars. Ever since, the name “Stella Award” has been applied to any wild, outrageous, or ridiculous lawsuits - including bogus cases! Here are this year’s winners…
7th Place - Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas, was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle when she tripped over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The owners of the store were understandably surprised at the verdict, considering that the misbehaving little toddler was Ms. Robertson’s son.
6th Place - Nineteen-year- old Carl Truman of Los Angeles won $74,000 and medical expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Mr. Truman apparently didn’t notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbor’s hubcaps.
5th Place - Terrence Dickson of Bristol, Pennsylvania, was leaving a house he had just finished robbing by way of the garage. He was not able to get the garage door to go up since the automatic door opener was malfunctioning. He couldn’t re-enter the house because the door connecting the house and garage locked when he pulled it shut. The family was on vacation, so Mr. Dickson found himself locked in the garage for eight days. He subsisted on a case of Pepsi he found, and a large bag of dry dog food. He sued the home owners’ insurance company, claiming the situation caused him undue mental anguish. The jury agreed to the tune of $500,000. In my opinion, this is SO outrageous that it should have been 2nd Place.
4th Place - Jerry Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, was awarded $14,500 and medical expenses after being bitten on the buttocks by his next-door neighbor’s beagle. The beagle was on a chain in its owners’ fenced yard. The award was less than originally sought, because the jury felt that the dog might have been just a little provoked at the time by Mr. Williams who had climbed over the fence into the yard and was shooting it repeatedly with a pellet gun.
3rd Place - A Philadelphia restaurant was ordered to pay Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, $113,500 after she slipped on a soft drink and broke her coccyx (tail bone). The beverage was on the floor because Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument.
2nd Place - Kara Walton of Claymont, Delaware, successfully sued the owner of a night club in a neighboring city when she fell from the bathroom window to the floor and knocked out her two front teeth. This occurred while Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the window in the ladies’ room to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge. She was awarded $12,000 and dental expenses.
1st Place (drum roll, please) - This year’s runaway winner was Mrs. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Grazinski purchased a brand-new, 32-foot-long Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home from an OU football game - having driven onto the freeway - she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver’s seat to go into the back to make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the RV left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Mrs.Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising her in the owner’s manual that she couldn’t actually do that. The jury awarded her $1,750,000 plus a new motor home. The company actually changed its manuals on the basis of this law suit, just in case there were any other complete morons around.
Answer:
How does it feel to post something that was debunked six years ago? If I did it, and it was pointed out in front of everyone, I'd feel pretty stupid.
Limestoner62, and anyone else who missed it, and whoever gave me the thumbs down if it was someone else, nobody paid out a dime in any of these cases, as none of these cases actually happened. They're all made up. Not true. Lies. Phonies. False. Mythical. I'm not sure how else to say it. They didn't happen!!!

Is it about time this came out? Some Jehovah's Witnesses want more than to leave Watchtowers ? Question: Towns where Alleged Jehovah's Witness Child molesters have been reported to silentlambs
Home
Listed by each state
If you would to add a new listing contact silentlambs at info@silentlambs.org
The list below is designed to alert you to a possible danger in your community. Over the course of the last four years silentlambs has been a repository of reports on alleged Jehovah's Witness child molesters. Victims have reported extensively on times, dates and places abuse occurred. We have wrestled with how to alert the public as well as members that may be in congregations where abusers have been reported.
We offer the following suggestions if you as a Jehovah's Witness are in a town/congregation where a report has been made.
Do not allow your children to be alone with anyone in the congregation.
Escort your children to the bathroom during meetings and make sure no else is with them when using facilities.
Never allow your children to be alone in the car with anyone while in field service.
Do not allow any member to study with your child alone.
Avoid camping trips in which children go as a group with one or two adults.
Avoid baby sitters that are adult males.
At a get together watch your children and keep them in sight at all times.
Ask elders directly if they know of any abusers in your congregation, use specific names and note their reaction. They will not tell you directly but indirectly you can often figure out who it is. If one elder is less cooperative talk to another till you find out enough information to know the facts.
Check the local sex offender list in your area, type in the name of every person in your congregation to see if any are listed.
Notice any male member of the congregation that does not have privileges such as microphone or other duties around the congregation, especially if for a long period of time. They can offer talks on the TMS or sermons Service Meeting but are not allowed to conduct meetings. (This is only in case of a confessed child molester)
Note any member of the congregation that has children with sever rebellion or emotional problems.
Do not allow your children to have sleepovers with anyone.
Note members that the elders avoid having around their children.
If you are a member of the public and your community is on the list take the following steps to protect your family.
If Jehovah's Witnesses call at your home never allow them in your home
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call at your home purchase a no trespassing sign and place it near your door. JW's are instructing to only respect "no trespassing" signs any other variation will be ignored.
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call you can also call the local number and ask to be placed on the "do not call" list. They will note your home and check about once a year to make sure you wish to remain on the list.
If you choose to study with Jehovah's Witnesses do so at a neutral location such as the local Kingdom Hall or in a public place.
Never allow your child to be alone with members or their children.
If you choose to attend meetings with Jehovah's Witnesses then we suggest you follow the guidelines above for members.
Remember that most members are not aware of who the molesters are in their congregation according to church policy. They do not know.
If two Jehovah's Witnesses call at your door one could be a child molester. According to church guidelines all confessed child molesters are required to have a partner when going door to door. If two Jehovah's Witnesses appear at your door you might wish to ask if one or both are child molesters for peace of mind. Of course keep in mind if the person is an accused child molester they are allowed to work alone in the door to door work.
We hope this information is helpful and assists with the ultimate goal of silentlambs, protecting children. Check back as the list is updated on a regular basis.

I live in Kentucky and want to move around? Should I stay in KY or leave? Which state should I move to? Why? Question: States I'm considering -
-Top of my list: TEXAS!!!!, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, -Tennessee, New Mexico
-Not on the list but willing to consider: the Carolinas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, Washington, Arizona
-I don't want to move to: the east coast north of Virginia Beach, Ohio, Florida, California
-Please consider the following: culture, weather, climate, natural beauty, cleanliness, jobs and economy, people, friendliness, hospitality, attractions, etc. Thanks!
-And seriously, my top pick is TX, preferably Galveston, Austin, San Antonio, or Fort Worth. I am willing to consider other cities, but Dallas County doesn't appeal to me very much (at least the cities proper of Dallas and Irving.)
BTW, Kentucky is OK, but several places there really suck, such as Louisville, Lawrenceburg, Frankfort, and (worst of all) Winchester. Eastern KY in general isn't too great. Murray, Cadiz, Mayfield are nice. There are better and worse places than KY.

It's time again for the annual "Stella Awards"! For those unfamiliar with these awards, they are named after Question: It's time again for the annual "Stella Awards"! For those unfamiliar with these awards, they are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued the McDonald's in New Mexico where she purchased the coffee. You remember, she took the lid off the coffee and put it between Her knees while she was driving. Who would ever think one could get Burned doing that, right? That's right; these are awards for the most Outlandish lawsuits and verdicts in the U.S. You know, the kinds of cases That make you scratch your head. So keep your head scratcher handy.
Here are the Stella's for the past year:
7TH PLACE : Kathleen Robertson of Austin , Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The store owners were understandably surprised by the verdict, considering the running toddler was her own son.
6TH PLACE: Carl Truman, 19, of Los Angeles , California won $74,000 plus medical expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbor's hubcaps.
Go ahead, grab your head scratcher.
5TH PLACE: Terrence Dickson, of Bristol , Pennsylvania , who Was leaving a house he had just burglarized by way of the garage. Unfortunately for Dickson, the Automatic garage door opener malfunctioned and he Could not get the garage door to open. Worse, he couldn't re-enter the house Because the door connecting the garage to the house locked when Dickson pulled it shut. Forced to sit for eight, count 'em, EIGHT, days on a case of Pepsi and a large bag of dry dog food, he sued the homeowner's insurance company claiming undue mental Anguish. Amazingly, the jury said the insurance company must pay Dickson $500,000 for his anguish. We should all have this kind of anguish.
Keep scratching. There are more...
4TH PLACE : Jerry Williams, of Little Rock , Arkansas, garnered 4th Place in the Stella's when he was awarded $14,500 plus medical expenses after being bitten on the butt by his next door neighbor's beagle - even though the beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. Williams did not get as much as he asked for because the jury believed the beagle might have been provoked at the time of the butt bite because Williams had climbed over the fence into the yard and repeatedly shot the dog with a pellet gun.
Grrrrr ... Scratch, scratch.
3RD PLACE : Amber Carson of Lancaster , Pennsylvania because a jury ordered a Philadelphia restaurant to pay her $113,500 after she slipped on a spilled soft drink and broke her tailbone. The reason the soft drink was on the floor: Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument. What ever happened to people being responsible for their own actions?
Scratch, scratch, scratch. Hang in there; there are Only two more Stella's to go...
2ND PLACE : Kara Walton, of Claymont , Delaware sued the owner of a night club in a nearby city because she fell from the bathroom window to the floor, knocking out her two front teeth. Even though Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the ladies room window to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge, the jury said the night club had to pay her $12,000....oh, yeah, plus dental expenses. Go figure.
1ST PLACE : (May I have a fanfare played on 50 Kazoos please) This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner was Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City , Oklahoma , who purchased a new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, from an OU football game, having driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to the back of the Winnebago to make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually leave the driver's seat while the cruise control was set. The Oklahoma jury awarded her, are you sitting down, $1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just in case Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a motor home.
Are we, as a society, getting more stupid...?
I'd like to get a bat and hit these jurors on the side of their head and ask," What were you thinking?" when awarding these IDIOTS!
Answer:
I laughed til I realized this was real.....Now I am just pissed. Email this to me please. So I can print it out...promise I won't sue you. And you get a star for your efforts to educate us.
