City Description

Valencia West is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 2,380 at the 2000 census. Valencia West is located at 32°8′27″N 111°6′49″W / 32.14083, -111.11361 (32.140958, -111.113649). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 9.6 square miles (24.9 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 2,380 people, 676 households, and 548 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 247.2 people per square mile (95.4/km²). There were 738 housing units at an average density of 76.7/sq mi (29.6/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 60.13% White, 1.34% Black or African American, 2.31% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.21% Pacific Islander, 32.94% from other races, and 2.94% from two or more races. 68.40% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 676 households out of which 50.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.8% were married couples living together, 17.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.8% were non-families. 15.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age
