City Description

Pine is a census-designated place (CPD) in Gila County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,931 at the 2000 census. Pine was established by four Mormon families in 1879. Pine is located at 34°23′6″N 111°27′28″W / 34.385, -111.45778 (34.385067, -111.457709). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 31.8 square miles (82.3 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,931 people, 882 households, and 604 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 60.8 people per square mile (23.5/km²). There were 2,242 housing units at an average density of 70.6/sq mi (27.2/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.89% White, 0.16% Black or African American, 0.52% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 1.09% from other races, and 1.24% from two or more races. 1.76% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 882 households out of which 15.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.2% were married couples living together, 5.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.5% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65
