People who moved to Arizona? Question: I live in Highlands Ranch Colorado and my family wants to move to paradise valley arizona. Ho long will it take me to get used to the hot weather?? How long did it take you to get used to the hot weather???
Answer:
My family was originally from northern Illinois and most all of them have moved to Arizona (we'll be moving there, too, before too long, but stuck in northern California in the meantime). The first time I visited my brother after he moved there was in the month of August. Definitely NOT the best time to visit Arizona! LOL I was helping him to do some work in the garage, the temperature was hovering around 114 degrees and the tools were almost too hot to touch. I asked him why on earth he had moved to such a hellish place and he replied that you have to look at it like that time of year was "winter." In Illinois (and Colorado) for several months of the year it's usually too cold to spend a lot of time outdoors so you're inside with the heater running. Well, in Arizona you have a few months of the year when you stay indoors with the air-conditioner running instead! The compensation is that the other 8 or 9 months of the year are beautiful for the most part.
I don't think you ever do get used to it, but remember you can always cool off by jumping in the pool! LOL! (Or just go grocery shopping! They always keep those stores almost too cold!)
I think it's easier to get cool than it is to get warm.

help i need leadership postitions for college resume!? Question: i am a junior in high school, live in paradise valley, arizona, and need some leadership positions! does anybody know of any, such as part of a mayor's council or something along those lines, or just like anything! and i cant get a job, my parents wont let me, so any suggestions??
Answer:
Leadership positions typically mean in student, civic, or religious organizations. Vice President of the French Club in HS, treasurer of the Young (your denomination here) Group, and the like. It will be tough to become a leader in a group that you just join, so an alternative plan means finding a volunteer, civic, service group and working with that. Make sure that some of your activities have responsibility (leadership). Habitat for Humanity always needs volunteers, and does not have enough young people so you could work with them and recruit young people etc.
Leadership in this context means can you organize, plan, motivate, and take responsibility. Since as a new member of some club you probably won't become President, find an alternative way to demonstrate leadership qualities in working with other people. To rise quickly to a position of responsibility, find a small group.

Where in Arizona would be best to move to? Question: I want out of LA (Southern CA) and am considering AZ. I am a single woman in my early 40's w/o kids. I would like affordable rent, lower cost of living, employment opportunities and lower elevation (No or little snow).
Phoenix, Tempe, Flagstaff, Yuma, Kingman, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Prescott, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Bullhead City, Lake Havasu, Fort Mohave, Buckeye, Tuscon, Winslow or Nogales? Please help.
Answer:
Do you want a metropolitan area or a rural area? That will make a huge difference in narrowing your choices.
I live in Glendale, but I commute to downtown Phoenix for work. My job is 11 miles from my house and it takes me about a half hour in the morning, and 45 minutes at night. I bought my condo in 1998 and the mortgage payment is $405 per month; the population of Glendale is about 250,000. I am 5 miles away from the Cardinals football stadium and the Coyotes hockey arena. The very large Phoenix metro area includes Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, Apache Junction, Fountain Hills, Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Glendale, Surprise, El Mirage, Buckeye, Goodyear, Avondale, and of course, Phoenix proper.
Contrast that with Kingman, where I grew up. The longest morning commute I ever had was only about 10 minutes, and that was from the far north part of town to the far south part of town. It's only an hour and a half from Las Vegas, and the town itself has a population of about 40,000; there are currently no malls and the largest store is Walmart. The weather is roughly the same as that of Las Vegas, just a few degrees cooler and very windy.
Tidbits about other Arizona cities: Flagstaff and Prescott both are at higher elevations and receive abundant snowfall. Bullhead City and Lake Havasu City are very low elevation, have large recreational bodies of water within the city limits, and the temperatures are some of the hottest in the state. Usually only Yuma or Coolidge is hotter than BHC or LHC. Tucson is slightly higher desert than Phoenix, so it is a bit cooler and has a population of about half a million in the city, but the total including outlying areas is much higher. Nogales is hot, and just across the border from Mexico.

Anyone with fibromyigla moved to arizona? Question: Anyone moved from cold weather to warmer weather because of having fibromyila? How did it effect you with pain?Any good suggestions??? Where is paradise valley? is it a good area?
Answer:
I do have fibromyalgia and am currently living in Phoenix. I noticed a huge difference, because it isn't as humid out here, which makes the pain less to sometimes none.
I'm from Europe and was living in pain each summer and winter.
I like living here, but just moved out recently. Before I did visit at several times during the year and was just having a good time, being painless. I only noticed pressure in my shoulders this week, because the rain was coming and during the rain days, but since that doesn't happen much here, it isn't bad at all.

How do I file a lawsuit against a mental health organization for medical malpractice? Question: In January 2005, Value Options of Phoenix, Arizona injected me with a long-acting dose of Prolixin, the result of which landed me in the Paradise Valley Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with Neuroleptic-Maglignant Syndrome-like symptoms (including severe muscular rigidity, cold sweats, fever and extreme physical weakness). I eventually was released, but not after a horrifying experience.
I am considering bringing litigation against Value Options of Phoenix, Arizona for extreme medical malpractice. How do I do so and at a reasonable cost (I do not have a lot of money)?

anyone here live in arizona that has been at:? Question: the paradise valley mall or the desert ridge mall? if you have, tell me about it to see if you are telling the TRUTH!
Answer:
desert ridge is considered one of the "newer malls" it is outdoors and has an outdoor venue where bands and live activities happen on stage. there is a "curfew" on weekends where teens under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. During christmas, a huge christmas tree is displayed at the main entrance of the mall. it is right off the 101 and tatum blvd.
paradise valley mall has been here for a very long time. it's located on cactus & tatum and it is an indoor mall. i definitely would not say it's a mall for "rich" people - it has the same stores as Arrowhead but not as many nice stores as Fashion Square. during halloween, parents take their kids to pv mall so they can trick or treat at the stores - its safer these days as opposed to walking around outside in the dark. anyway, my parents live 5 miles from pv mall.

Why is Prolixin still on the market? Question: I was given an injection dose of Prolixin by Value Options of Phoenix, Arizona. This led to my muscles freezing up, causing me to spend 4 days in the hospital ICU at Paradise Valley Hospital in Phoenix. This cost my insurance company nearly $47,000.
Why is Prolixin still prescribed when it is so clearly a very dangerous drug?
Answer:
Some people do not respond to the atypical antipsychotics and they have to go back to the older meds, like Haldol and Prolixin. The symptoms you described happened a lot 25 years ago, but not so much with the new meds. Did you doc try something else before or just start you on Prolixin? If he started you on Prolixin, find a psychiatrist who is more knowledgeable in the newer medications.

Is it about time this came out? Some Jehovah's Witnesses want more than to leave Watchtowers ? Question: Towns where Alleged Jehovah's Witness Child molesters have been reported to silentlambs
Home
Listed by each state
If you would to add a new listing contact silentlambs at info@silentlambs.org
The list below is designed to alert you to a possible danger in your community. Over the course of the last four years silentlambs has been a repository of reports on alleged Jehovah's Witness child molesters. Victims have reported extensively on times, dates and places abuse occurred. We have wrestled with how to alert the public as well as members that may be in congregations where abusers have been reported.
We offer the following suggestions if you as a Jehovah's Witness are in a town/congregation where a report has been made.
Do not allow your children to be alone with anyone in the congregation.
Escort your children to the bathroom during meetings and make sure no else is with them when using facilities.
Never allow your children to be alone in the car with anyone while in field service.
Do not allow any member to study with your child alone.
Avoid camping trips in which children go as a group with one or two adults.
Avoid baby sitters that are adult males.
At a get together watch your children and keep them in sight at all times.
Ask elders directly if they know of any abusers in your congregation, use specific names and note their reaction. They will not tell you directly but indirectly you can often figure out who it is. If one elder is less cooperative talk to another till you find out enough information to know the facts.
Check the local sex offender list in your area, type in the name of every person in your congregation to see if any are listed.
Notice any male member of the congregation that does not have privileges such as microphone or other duties around the congregation, especially if for a long period of time. They can offer talks on the TMS or sermons Service Meeting but are not allowed to conduct meetings. (This is only in case of a confessed child molester)
Note any member of the congregation that has children with sever rebellion or emotional problems.
Do not allow your children to have sleepovers with anyone.
Note members that the elders avoid having around their children.
If you are a member of the public and your community is on the list take the following steps to protect your family.
If Jehovah's Witnesses call at your home never allow them in your home
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call at your home purchase a no trespassing sign and place it near your door. JW's are instructing to only respect "no trespassing" signs any other variation will be ignored.
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call you can also call the local number and ask to be placed on the "do not call" list. They will note your home and check about once a year to make sure you wish to remain on the list.
If you choose to study with Jehovah's Witnesses do so at a neutral location such as the local Kingdom Hall or in a public place.
Never allow your child to be alone with members or their children.
If you choose to attend meetings with Jehovah's Witnesses then we suggest you follow the guidelines above for members.
Remember that most members are not aware of who the molesters are in their congregation according to church policy. They do not know.
If two Jehovah's Witnesses call at your door one could be a child molester. According to church guidelines all confessed child molesters are required to have a partner when going door to door. If two Jehovah's Witnesses appear at your door you might wish to ask if one or both are child molesters for peace of mind. Of course keep in mind if the person is an accused child molester they are allowed to work alone in the door to door work.
We hope this information is helpful and assists with the ultimate goal of silentlambs, protecting children. Check back as the list is updated on a regular basis.
