Fort Huachuca, a U.S. Army base, is located just south of the municipality.
Huachuca City is located at 31°38′10″N 110°20′11″W / 31.63611, -110.33639 (31.636010, -110.336412).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.3 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,751 people, 713 households, and 432 families residing in the town. The population density was 625.6 people per square mile (241.5/km²). There were 844 housing units at an average density of 301.5/sq mi (116.4/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 75.39% White, 6.80% Black or African American, 2.68% Native American, 1.48% Asian, 0.23% Pacific Islander, 8.17% from other races, and 5.25% from two or more races. 16.28% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
