City Description

Fortuna Foothills is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yuma County, Arizona, United States. The population was 20,478 at the 2000 census. Fortuna Foothills is located at 32°39′28″N 114°24′43″W / 32.65778, -114.41194 (32.657713, -114.411808). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 40.0 square miles (103.7 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 20,478 people, 9,652 households, and 7,364 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 511.7 people per square mile (197.6/km²). There were 14,961 housing units at an average density of 373.9/sq mi (144.3/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 90.06% White, 0.44% Black or African American, 0.70% Native American, 0.52% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 6.58% from other races, and 1.62% from two or more races. 12.74% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 9,652 households out of which 11.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.1% were married couples living together, 3.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.7% were non-families. 19.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.4% had someone living alone
