City Description

Blackwater is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. It is part of the Gila River Indian Community. The population was 504 at the 2000 census. It is featured in the video game Red Dead Redemption. Blackwater is located at 33°1′56″N 111°35′45″W / 33.03222°N 111.59583°W / 33.03222; -111.59583 (33.032359, -111.595938). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.6 square miles (17.1 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 504 people, 135 households, and 110 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 76.5 people per square mile (29.5/km²). There were 140 housing units at an average density of 21.3/sq mi (8.2/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 0.99% White, 0.20% Black or African American, 94.64% Native American, 3.37% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. 15.08% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 135 households out of which 48.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 34.1% were married couples living together, 34.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.8% were non-families. 13.3% of all households were
