City Description

Crooked Creek is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bethel Census Area, Alaska, United States. As of the 2000 census, the population of the CDP is 137. Crooked Creek is located at 61°51′35″N 158°7′44″W / 61.85972°N 158.12889°W / 61.85972; -158.12889 (61.859821, -158.128884). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 108.5 square miles (281.0 km²), of which, 101.1 square miles (261.8 km²) of it is land and 7.4 square miles (19.2 km²) of it (6.85%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 137 people, 38 households, and 31 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1.4 people per square mile (0.5/km²). There were 46 housing units at an average density of 0.5/sq mi (0.2/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 6.57% White, 90.51% Native American, and 2.92% from two or more races. There were 38 households out of which 57.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.5% were married couples living together, 31.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.4% were non-families. 18.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
