• Vina industrial park gets good news in tough time
  

  Posted on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010 at 7:55 am. The Great Recession is still being felt by many in Franklin County, but new grants totalling roughly $1.5 million for the industrial park in Vina could bring some much-needed relief to the area.

  An announcement Monday put the Vina Industrial Park on the map with funds totaling $1,555,000 going towards park renovations.

City Description

Vina is a town in Franklin County, Alabama, United States. At the 2000 census the population was 400. Vina is located at 34°22′30″N 88°3′13″W / 34.375°N 88.05361°W / 34.375; -88.05361 (34.374874, -88.053498). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 4.0 square miles (10.3 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 400 people, 155 households, and 110 families residing in the town. The population density was 100.2 people per square mile (38.7/km²). There were 188 housing units at an average density of 47.1/sq mi (18.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.50% White, 0.50% Black or African American, 0.25% from other races, and 1.75% from two or more races. 1.75% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 155 households out of which 31.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.9% were married couples living together, 21.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.0% were non-families. 26.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.11. In the
