Sweet Water is located at 32°5′52″N 87°51′55″W / 32.09778, -87.86528 (32.097781, -87.865416).
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.1 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 234 people, 93 households, and 73 families residing in the town. The population density was 119.1 people per square mile (45.9/km²). There were 107 housing units at an average density of 54.5/sq mi (21.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 92.31% White, 5.56% Black or African American, 1.71% Native American, and 0.43% from two or more races.
There were 93 households out of which 34.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.9% were married couples living together, 5.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.5% were non-families. 21.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 2.93.
