    Slocomb is a city in Geneva County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Dothan, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2000 census the population was 2,052. The community is named after postmaster, Frank W. Slocomb. Slocomb calls itself the "home of the tomato." Their school mascot is the "Redtop". (Slocomb High School) Slocomb is located at 31°6′31″N 85°35′40″W / 31.10861, -85.59444 (31.108541, -85.594307). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.5 square miles (24.6 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 2,052 people, 856 households, and 590 families residing in the city. The population density was 215.9 people per square mile (83.3/km²). There were 963 housing units at an average density of 101.3/sq mi (39.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 72.81% White, 24.61% Black or African American, 0.73% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 1.17% from other races, and 0.63% from two or more races. 2.83% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
