City Description

Priceville is the third largest municipality in Morgan County, Alabama, and is included in the Decatur Metropolitan Area, as well as the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. As of the 2006 census estimate, the population of the town is 2,380. Priceville is located at 34°31′16″N 86°52′47″W / 34.52111, -86.87972 (34.521001, -86.879678). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 5.2 square miles (13.4 km²). As of the census of 2000, there were 1,631 people, 620 households, and 518 families residing in the town. The population density was 316.2 people per square mile (122.0/km²). There were 637 housing units at an average density of 123.5/sq mi (47.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 95.89% White, 2.27% Black or African American, 0.67% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.55% from other races, and 0.43% from two or more races. 1.23% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 620 households out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.2% were married couples living together, 6.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.3% were non-families. 13.5% of all households were made up of
