City DescriptionPickensville is a town in Pickens County, Alabama, United States. At the 2000 census the population was 662.
Pickensville is located at 33°13′50″N 88°16′21″W / 33.23056, -88.2725 (33.230693, -88.272554).
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 10.0 square miles (26.0 km²), of which, 7.8 square miles (20.1 km²) of it is land and 2.3 square miles (5.9 km²) of it (22.73%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 662 people, 255 households, and 182 families residing in the town. The population density was 85.4 people per square mile (33.0/km²). There were 392 housing units at an average density of 50.6/sq mi (19.5/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 35.35% White, 62.99% Black or African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.30% from other races, and 1.21% from two or more races.
There were 255 households out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.3% were married couples living together, 22.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.6% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
