    Opp is a city in Covington County, Alabama, United States. At the 2000 census the population was 6,607 . Opp is located at 31°16′59″N 86°15′17″W / 31.28306, -86.25472 (31.283083, -86.254661). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 18.0 square miles (46.7 km²), of which, 17.1 square miles (44.4 km²) of it is land and 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²) of it (4.83%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 6,607 people, 2,753 households, and 1,905 families residing in the city. The population density was 385.2 people per square mile (148.7/km²). There were 3,187 housing units at an average density of 185.8/sq mi (71.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 83.21% White, 15.71% Black or African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.08% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more races. 0.68% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
