    Mountainboro is a town in Etowah County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Gadsden Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2000 census the population was 338. Mountainboro is located at 34°8′52″N 86°7′54″W / 34.14778, -86.13167 (34.147665, -86.131765). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²), of which, 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²) of it is land and 1.22% is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 338 people, 128 households, and 88 families residing in the town. The population density was 417.9 people per square mile (161.1/km²). There were 142 housing units at an average density of 175.6/sq mi (67.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 96.15% White, 0.30% Black or African American, 1.48% Asian, 0.89% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. 1.78% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 128 households out of which 25.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.7% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.5% were non-families. 25.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.9% had someone living alone
