    Morris is a town in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. At the 2000 census the population was 1,827. Morris is located at 33°44′51″N 86°48′25″W / 33.7475, -86.80694 (33.747374, -86.807023). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.1 square miles (7.9 km²), of which, 3.0 square miles (7.9 km²) of it is land and 0.33% is water. The town is named after Mary Hunter "Mae" Morris, an early female pioneer of the region. Morris' beauty and intelligence was the stuff of Alabama legend. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,827 people, 662 households, and 548 families residing in the town. The population density was 600.2 people per square mile (232.0/km²). There were 687 housing units at an average density of 225.7/sq mi (87.3/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.47% White, 0.49% Black or African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.27% Asian, 0.11% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races. 0.38% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
