The correct pronunciation for the town is MAD drid with emphasis on the first syallable; rather than Mah DRID like the largest city in Spain.
Madrid is located at 31°2′6″N 85°23′50″W / 31.035, -85.39722 (31.034941, -85.397222).
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.9 square miles (5.0 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 303 people, 119 households, and 89 families residing in the town. The population density was 156.1 people per square mile (60.3/km²). There were 134 housing units at an average density of 69.0/sq mi (26.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 82.84% White, 16.17% Black or African American, 0.33% Asian, and 0.66% from two or more races.
