City DescriptionKillen is a town in Lauderdale County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Florence - Muscle Shoals Metropolitan Statistical Area known as "The Shoals". As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 1,190.
Killen is located at 34°51′42″N 87°31′46″W / 34.86167, -87.52944 (34.861586, -87.529374).
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.9 square miles (4.9 km²), all of which is land and none of which is covered by water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,119 people, 435 households, and 338 families residing in the town. The population density was 585.0 people per square mile (226.2/km²). There were 484 housing units at an average density of 253.0/sq mi (97.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 95.26% White, 2.23% Black or African American, 0.45% Asian, 1.61% from other races, and 0.45% from two or more races. 2.59% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
