Centreville is located at 32°57'0.000" North, 87°8'4.949" West (32.950000, -87.134708).
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.7 square miles (25 km), of which, 9.5 square miles (25 km) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km) (1.75%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,466 people, 953 households, and 684 families residing in the city. The population density was 258.5 inhabitants per square mile (99.8 /km). There were 1,064 housing units at an average density of 111.6 per square mile (43.1 /km).The racial makeup of the city was 75.95% White, 23.03% Black or African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.32% from other races, and 0.49% from two or more races. 1.74% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
