City Description

Branchville is a town in St. Clair County, Alabama in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 825. Non-existent. Branchville is located at 33°38′53″N 86°26′13″W / 33.64806°N 86.43694°W / 33.64806; -86.43694 (33.648029, -86.436895). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.1 square miles (7.9 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 825 people, 319 households, and 256 families residing in the town. The population density was 269.6 people per square mile (104.1/km²). There were 345 housing units at an average density of 112.7/sq mi (43.5/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.09% White, 0.36% Black or African American, 1.21% , 0.48% from other races, and 0.85% from two or more races. 1.94% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 319 households out of which 30.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.4% were married couples living together, 9.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.7% were non-families. 18.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
