City DescriptionBoaz is a city in Etowah and Marshall Counties in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is part of the 'Gadsden, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area'. As of the 2000 census, the population of the city is 7,411. According to the 2005 U.S. Census estimates, the city had a population of 7,893. Boaz is known mainly for its outlet shops.
Boaz is located at 34°12′10″N 86°9′38″W / 34.20278°N 86.16056°W / 34.20278; -86.16056 (34.202793, -86.160457).
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.2 square miles (31.7 km²), of which, 12.2 square miles (31.6 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (0.49%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 7,411 people, 3,155 households, and 2,085 families residing in the city. The population density was 607.7 people per square mile (234.5/km²). There were 3,468 housing units at an average density of 284.4/sq mi (109.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.50% White, 1.31% Black or African American, 0.47% Native American, 0.45% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 3.01% from other races, and 1.23% from two or more races. 4.98% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
