    Beatrice (pronounced /biːˈætrɨs/, with the stress on the a) is a town in Monroe County, Alabama, United States. At the 2000 census the population was 412. According to the 2005 U.S. Census estimates, the town had a population of 403. Beatrice is located at 31°43′59″N 87°12′24″W / 31.73306°N 87.20667°W / 31.73306; -87.20667 (31.733178, -87.206773). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.4 square miles (3.5 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 412 people, 158 households, and 106 families residing in the town. The population density was 304.8 people per square mile (117.8/km²). There were 203 housing units at an average density of 150.2/sq mi (58.1/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 26.94% White, 72.57% Black or African American, 0.24% Native American and 0.24% Pacific Islander. 0.49% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
